What Would You Do If?

You know or had a premonition that you don't have a lot of time left on earth (and possibly seeing glimpses of an upcoming lifetime as well). You've also been accepted into your much coveted program of study. Do you, continue to pour into your books and study (hoping you are wrong), or would you drop it all and spend more time doing what you love, having fun, spending time with those you care about, etc (insert what you would do)?

I'm a bit skeptical of the idea, but also can not deny what has been going on. Which is why I ask.

I'd drop everything that meant nothing to me and instead use every minute I had left doing things that are important to me - which includes working towards my goals, doing things to benefit others and being with people I love. If it were a case of dragging out my education, I'd drop it in a heartbeat. In fact, that's what I did. I know I can die at any time, though I have had no premonitions, and I don't want any moment to be spent doing something I don't want to do ... And I know that is a vast statement, but I am referring to meaningless studies, meaningless jobs, meaningless socializing ...

I'd be interested to hear about that upcoming life.I would want to do all the things I wanted to do and have no regrets.Secondly the future is not set so you dieing might be a possibility.so you would also have to prepare for if you don't die.

When I was young, I had a strong feeling / premonition that I would not live to the age of 21. I didn't change my life in any way because of that feeling. Many decades later, obviously that premonition was either wrong, or something intervened because I'm still around.

Do agree with SkyeSpitfire above

Now I personally would go out there and enjoy what I had of the remainder of this present life. We here that are alive are actually not promised that we will be here for another day even though we might think that tomarrow is promised to us. So many possibilities can happen to us on any single day. How much here in this modern day society are we taught to live for tomarrow and to put off or bury that which we actually want to pursue in our own hearts and lives. And then on a everyday basis, we do the biddings of those that are around us rather then actually following our own hearts and do what we want in life or pursue that which we ourselves want to pursue. Now this is actually how I have tried to live my life in pursuring the desires of mine own heart instead of the dictates of others, for if I would have followed the dictates of others then I would have never gone to the mountain wilds which has been the supreme joy of this life.

Like Misty, I would simply ignore it and continue my life as before. The future is not ours to see!

I once believed I wouldn't live to see my 40th birthday. Things I had been told by "spirit", the direction my life was heading in, the "new age" company I was keeping, the philosophy they espoused: all seemed firm indicators of my premature demise. It all bothered me, and I really thought it might all be true. But I ignored it, and ten years beyond my 40th birthday I'm still here, alive, well, and the most healthy person I know!

I would ignore it. The same thing happened to me via a close friend. He had it not only about me, but himself as well. Neither of them came to pass. It is best to live each day like it could be our last, but prepare for the future as if you will be here a long time, that way you are ready for both.

I’m another who had premonitions I’d die at a certain age, I didn’t, and have more than doubled that age. I had a friend who for some reason thought he’d die at 32, he’s also still around, and very active. I’ve known people who were very ill and who were sure they’d be ‘the next to go’, only to be upstaged when a much younger and healthy relative beat them to it.

Any of us might die at any time, from old age, illness, or bad luck, but - this is where the theory of reincarnation comes in handy - I’ve always believed that we should carry on as if everything we’re doing will come in handy in the next life. If I’m old and haven’t yet learned to play the violin, clearly I’m not going to make first violinist for the local philharmonic, but, if I loved the idea of playing the violin I believe that I should take the first steps to learning. Or listen to music, or read about it, or something. If there is reincarnation perhaps I’ve given myself a leg up in the next life, or the one after that. If there isn’t any after-life at all, well, at least I’ve spent part of my life pursuing a passion, feeble as my attempts might be. In the meantime I wouldn’t burn any bridges that would affect my ability to earn my own living, unless I was on a path I really did hate and they needed burning. I’d still being doing laundry and paying bills and preparing meals. Life is filled with the necessity of making practical choices.

Maybe that's from a past life?

Wow. Another fan of Johnny Crawford and Chuck Conners. That was one of my favorite shows growing up. Hard to believe that Johhny is now 66.

My parents named me after Lucas and Mark. My first name is Mark and middle name is Lukas (spelled with k).

I stand corrected. Your parents were big fans. That show is still airing on MeTV, I think. Check your local listings. Johhny is even doing a promo for it, "Be sure and watch". Yes, he gets paid every time it airs.

I like what Jonathan said. The future is not set in stone, but it exists as a kaleidoscope of possible futures. I've thought for a couple of decades that this was my last year. I have four months to go, and all seems well. I would continue with my course of study, if I were you. Beware, prophesies like this can be self-fulfilling. Elvis believed he would die at forty, and did.

To me, psychic impressions within oneself or readings from someone else are useless if they are only potentialities, unless stated so in the reading and the conditions for fulfillment are stated.

Most likely? Consider myself a loon, then carry on as normal.

The only reason I really accept my PLs is because they continue to pop up and bug me at inconvenient times, unless I do accept it after the first 5 times of getting a repeat of the same memory.

None of us asked you, Widmo, why you believe you might die. Was it a dream, a psychic, an intuition, or something else? For instance, my father, my mother, and my aunt died when they were my present age, all relatively "young" deaths. Somehow, I decided I was like them. What is the cause of your belief?

I would tend to the "Get on with whatever it is you are doing in your life" just in case idea....

I have read a theory that we each of us have several "opportunities" to die in a lifetime and I would think that, at the deepest level, we know (more or less consciously) when we have come to one of those Choice Points (as I call them).

So maybe your feeling is based on you knowing, at some level, that you are coming up to a Choice Point. Well you may or may not choose to "go" at that point anyway...

I've certainly had at least one Choice Point to date in my life - when I contracted an illness that sometimes kills people. I very deliberately sat down and thought about it and realised that I wasn't at all bothered about the thought of dying - but I WAS very bothered about the illness I would have gone through en route to dying and worried that I might find myself losing income because of the illness before I died. I decided both those things would be unacceptable to me and the illness must therefore go - and it did!

My parents, to my knowledge, had a joint Choice Point many years back now. They were in an area that was about to have a major disaster that involved a noticeable number of people being killed and injured. They didn't know this until it was on the news later, but they chose to leave that area early and thus didn't take that Choice Point. Their children (ie my brother and myself) were both adults and "launched on life" at that point, so they would have been free to go if they chose. However, for some reason, they chose not to stay put and get killed by that major disaster. Who knows whether either of them had an inkling or no? Who knows why they chose not to take the opportunity?

Ceridwen, that was brilliant. I, too, have had one major "choice point", and chose to stay. Within a year, the life that I had been living started to disappear. There was a real "desert" period, to quote a famous deceased psychic, that lasted for four years. They were really tough years. I think there's a "choice point" coming up for me in April, similar to the one that faced your parents. Could Widmo be facing a similar situation? What does everyone think?

The future is always changing. You should spend more time with family and doing what you love ANYWAY. :)
