Someone asked me this question a few years ago, just as I was beginning to emerge from depression. At the time I was in the habit of saying, "I want to (...) but I know I can't. It's so horrible to be someone who is too weak do the things I dream of doing."
Well, let me tell you, I was very, very wrong about my abilities! (And this question was part of the path to seeing myself more clearly.)
--Become free of fear? Done! I left the abusive relationships in my life. Now I rarely worry anymore, and have new mental habits for dealing with stress before it affects my health.
--Sell my art? Done! And creating a business out of it, too!
--Be a good friend? Turns out I already was, I just needed to believe my friends instead of assuming they were just being nice.
--Help others? That, too, was something I was already doing. Now that I believe I can, I see opportunities everywhere.
--Connect with artists? Not only am I connecting with them, but I am learning to connect them to each other. I love collaborating in art and life, and beautiful paths are opening ahead of me.
So what about you? What would you do in this life if you knew you would succeed? Maybe ... just maybe ... you're already on your way there.
Feel free to share related experiences. I love learning from other's life lessons. (Saves me from bad choices sometimes.) LOL
