A police sergeant's memories

Thank you Tanguerra for your beautifully kind words. I've been sitting on them for sometime and looking for a perspective. I think your idea of the sand mandalas is perfect. They are creations from another place...a spiritual place. As the wind scatters the particles into the cosmos they are none-the-less beautiful and the memory of them even greater. They will be beautiful mandalas in the future, made by the hand of the Sacred.

I have recently found a new friend and teacher, a Jhana yogi. He has helped me to see the cosmos and all its hidden complexities in a way that is making greater sense of all of this. From my early days of discovery (read the beginning:o) I've seen myself go from a disheveled soul lost in some kind of cosmic storm; to a wiser more enlightened being. The agape love for Her is powerful and infinitely intense...but there is more to the story, more to this journey. I have said over and over my lesson from Her is TRUST. This came from Her own mouth. And rather than lose myself in the abyss of yearning, I am going to take this and spin deeper into the creation.

What does that mean? Well I believe we've been given an incredible gift in remembering past lives. I have no doubt that there are even greater truths out there waiting for us. I do not intend to wither in yearning and sadness...no I'm going to take my own journey deeper into it. My teacher recently sent me this link regarding pastlives...it is simply entitled On the Recollection of Past Lives. It is one facet of the journey that I've found very rewarding, perhaps others will too.

I had the good fortune of being worked on by an incredible Celtic healer recently. She helped me to see that I can use my ancient spirit as a guide. I can put down the warrior's sword and pick up the cloak of compassion, love and forgiveness. There is a lot to do in this life! My love for MsX will never end, I love simply knowing that...and I TRUST in it.

Namaste Tinkerman (and W.A :) )

My apologies for taking so long to respond. So many things are going on in my life as they seem to be in yours! For example, I am in the midst of packing up my apartment and moving to the beautiful Whitsunday Islands next week (yes really, long story).

I'm so glad you appreciated what I wrote. It came straight from the heart. Indeed, after I wrote that quite spontaneously, I then thought about it later and amended a section in my book, in the very Chapter on the definition of love. I 'wrote this about the relationship between love and desire:

What love is not
“When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace.” Jimi Hendrix

...Love is not desire.... Desire is not wrong. Desire is not bad. Desire is, in fact, an integral part of romantic love. Indeed, it is impossible to imagine romantic love without it, outside of a Disney cartoon. Desire is the flesh and bones of love. Desire gives love its sweat and tears. Desire gives love its delight and its pain. Desire gives life to children and creativity. Desire gives life, as it gives love, its spice and sizzle. Desire gives life its enthusiasm and passion. But desire is not love. ...We know when we are feeling desire because we feel anxious, bitter or unhappy. We know love when we are feeling it because it is so pleasant. Love makes the spirit dance. Love fills us with delight...
Love and desire. Night and day. Sun and Moon. Yin and Yang....

X popped over for a gossip tonight before I fly off, sitting surrounded by boxes with no coffee table ... to say goodbye properly... (he's overjoyed I'm lending him my washing machine :) ).

I am going away from him this time, and it's a good and happy thing. We won't be parted 'forever' (whatever that is). All is well with the world.

Yes ;) . Perfect indeed. :)

I am sitting on my verrandah on a very remote island in the Great Barrier Reef, in tropical Queensland where I am working in a luxury resort at present (strange, but true). I'm thinking about abiding love and my friend X and sand mandalas and contemplating the sand between my toes (yes really, lucky me).

It is a strange experience on this little island cut off from the 'real world' without newspapers or mobile phones or TV and climate change and all that "busy stuff". The stars are very bright here. There are many birds. It is a national park reserve. The birds are mostly very noisy even at night, as are our usual busy, mental, human thoughts. Sometimes to quieten the birds I play some beautiful tunes, on my computer. They particularly like

for some reason. I have a recording of some lovely female voices singing a beautiful Medieval 'Halelujah' 'O Bright Virgin'. A beautiful peace descends whenever I play it, as though thebirds hush just to listen. They also like 'Songbird' by Eva Cassidy, which is a special song for me in relation to X 'To you I would give the world....and I love you, I love you, I love you like never before...'
Truly this Earth is magical. If only others could experience such peace as the birds and I do in such serene moments, how nice it would be.

How is it all going Tinkerman?

Hello Tanguerra,

Thank you for the beautiful imagery in your post. I could feel the breeze and hear the music. Aren't times like that so perfect. They are as if the great vortex of living has paused for a moment in time...slowed to savor. It is in those moments that I too, truly appreciate life...even the cruelties and yearnings.

Here on the ranch we are preparing for winter. The cattle came home from the summer pasture last week, the little valley is filled with their bawling. I am in the process of packing all of my machinery away for winter. It is a quiet time, filled with millions of little prompts that take me back to Her and the farm...the other life.

The cold winds have begun. Today it is blustery and wet. A misting rain falls as cats and dogs scramble under the stoop for cover. The beauty of your place of warmth seems to be the yang of my place of cold. Reminds me of Joni Mitchell's song Carousel of Time: "...we're captive on a carousel of time."

I felt your serenity there T...thanks for sharing. This afternoon I'll spend sometime out in the cold rainy day, a lovely thing in its own way. I think because it is so close to "then" and the spiritual awareness so close to Her.

Be well my friend and thanks

Tman

PS Tanguerra...thank you so much for the music links...Hildegard plays now, I can't wait to explore it more!! How perfect for today!

Hi Tinkerman

I was just reading over all this again. Gosh what a lovely thread! I am on my way home tomorrow, hurrah! and looking forward to seeing X again soon.

Although we have been exchanging emails (mostly about nuclear fusion, new inventions for space travel and assorted general gossip) it's not the same as seeing his much-loved face and hearing his funny laugh which is so much like my father's.

Wondering how you are getting along with Miss X? Any news?

I'm going to bump this wonderful thread about love. I hope it is an inspiration to others and Tinkerman doesn't mind too much.

Namaste.

What a beautiful thread. Thank you all who contributed, especially Tinkerman and Tanguerra. And KenJ for directing me towards here.

I wished I had beautiful words to contribute too, but I don't. I know this process of finding back this special person and not being able to 'come together' in this life. In my case, in our case, we both recognize it fully. We are so aware and the connection is incredibly strong but that's not enough for a traditional relationship. And the connection is too strong for a decent friendship, so I cut off our contact some time ago. Well, of course, that is not possible on a soul level. He is still on my mind almost every hour of the day.
The spiritual growth was tremendous because of us finding each other back and reconnecting. Too much to mention.
