Answers for a sceptic

My question concerns my son, who was born 5weeks premature, some 18 yrs ago. At the age of 4 i bought a pinball machine that played old rock and roll songs, he homed in on one particular tune on this machine, he would appear at my side when it was playing, and disappear when it stopped. Anyway at age of 9 he asked for a guitar for his Xmas, thinking it would be a 5 minute wonder, we bought him a cheap £20 guitar. This then lead onto him really getting into guitar and we bought him a better electric guitar, with the help of lessons he rapidly became very adept at playing guitar. He prefers playing old rock and roll stuff on it, we thought nothing off it, just strange he doesn't seem to like more modern music.

I was on Internet, just surfing about a particular artiste who played a song he was trying to master on guitar, when date of his death jumped out at me, it was same date as son was born. I thought ok coincidences happen, bit more digging turned up more coincidences. This person was killed in car crash in England, almost 50 yrs ago, though he was American, when my son sings, he has an American accent, he strongly denies he puts it on, it just happens he says. I went to a psychic to try and dispel my scepticism in reincarnation, but she said my suspicions were correct and that my son had "chosen" me as father. Why me, I went back to Internet, to try and find reason, and discovered his best friend (also a rock and roll singer) who was in car crash with him, shared same birthday as me, though not same year obvisually. Too many coincidences were mounting up, having checked film of this singer, i noticed he walked same as my son. I took him too area in England where crash happened, exact spot as there is marker there, he felt nothing, great I thought all nonsense then.

We then went to the theatre where he last performed before leaving in car that he died in, as was a Sunday morning it was closed, we had a look then i said right lets go, he said not yet got to check out Stage door. I said there isnt one, he was adamant though, and in spite of pouring rain, he set off round corner, ha i thought houses there, now admittedly the houses were newish and wouldnt have been there in 1960, undaunted we went back to front of theatre, and he spotted a side street at other end, we walked up there and sure enough there was a Stage door, looks as if it is same for last 50yrs. One night he was sitting idly strumming guitar, i was out, his mother was watching TV, she heard him say "**** I cant remember how i used to play that" it was a less well known song by this singer. He also was passing a charity shop, when he spotted a guitar, that was just being placed in window, he marched straight in and bought it for £15, his mother was with him, and she said he came out with it he couldn't remember walking in shop! We took guitar to repair man, who checked it out and said it was ok to use, and that it was made around 1959.

My son is now at college learning Sound Engineering, which this singer was very interested in before he died. Now 50th anniversary of this singers death is on my sons next birthday, his mother and I are worried whether this will have any implications for him, or, indeed us! Please if anyone can refute this or confirm my suspicions I would be delighted, as I can't talk about this to just anyone, think I'm a nutjob.

Welcome to the forum Scottish Dad,

I would highly recommend you read Carol Bowman's book Children's Past Lives. It covers a breadth of information for children and adults and how to recognize the four basic signs as well as how to deal with them.

Has your son ever had dreams about this past life? Have you ever contacted a regressionist? I would allow him the opportunity to unveil specifics about his past life before doing too much research. It eliminates second guessing yourself and him.

Reincarnation is a fascinating subject and there are some great references out there to look into too..

Hi and welcome to the forum! Your son sounds like he's always shown some indications of a past life and its talents. Does your son believe in reincarnation? Have you ever talked with him about it? I wonder if he has any memories of this person's life.

Hi scottish dad, welcome to the forum, and thanks for sharing your experience with your son

I wouldn't worry too much about any major changes or events on the 50th anniversary of this singers death. There are a few members here in the forum who have talked about feeling maybe a bit emotional on what would have been a significant date in their previous life, but nothing more than that. Also, I would take with a pinch of salt what the psychic confirmed to you, not that I'm saying they were wrong of course, but there are many 'psychics' out there with false claims.

I'm also interested to know if you ever discussed any of this with your son? Has he ever seen or reacted to any pictures of this singer, or the 'famous' friends he was travelling with when he died?

Thanks for prompt replies, didn't realise i had waffled so much, it just poured out, think cause I keep it bottled up normally. Anyway, I have discussed this with my son, he refuses point blank to believe in reincarnation, or indeed to get regression hypnosis, which I suggested, went down like a ton of bricks. He doesn't appear to have any memories of his past life, if he does he probably wouldn't say, as worries about peoples reactions. He does appear to remember how to play a lot of the old songs, even obscure ones, from this guy, after 1 or 2 attempts. He said he was idly playing his guitar in his room, one night, he played a song he had never heard, problem is he never wrote it down, can't remember it again :D His mother and I are trying not to dwell on his past, but she secretly worries that he will meet an early death, mirroring his previous life, I've told her nonsense, but she has already said he is not going out on his birthday, just in case  I don't believe in psychics, but I was desperate for answers.

I hope you can find some reassurance from the threads in this forum, and maybe your wife too, does she know we are here?

We've all lived before, hundreds, maybe even thousands of past lives, so it is inevitable that in some of them we are going to experience death at an early age. If it's any help to you, I died at the age of 12 in my most recent past life, and I'm in my 40's in this life. I believe that we can follow a pattern throughout multiple lives in some aspects, but age and time of death is not one of them.

Like Chris said, every life is different and of a different length. In my most recent past life, I was killed at what I think was the age of 10. I know I was very young in that life.

Looking back now, when I was 10 in this life, I was very preoccupied with dying and didn't truly believe I'd live to see age 11. But I didn't know why. I still don't really know why, but I think that's the age I was before when I died. I finally turned 11 and was pleasantly surprised to realize I was still alive. My thoughts of death immediately stopped also.

Interesting, well I was 5 when I was killed in my last life (Holocaust victim), and I was born with a speech delay.. and didn't start to really talk in this life after I had turned 5. And before that, I was a very screamy and cranky child!

Whoa I remember meeting this holocaust victim who's alive right now. Her name is Eva Brown

Hi Scottishdad and welcome to the forum :)

I think your story is really fascinating! I can echo what Deborah wrote about reading Carol Bowman's books. I also don't think you should worry about the 50th anniversary. There is some continuation of patterns from life to life, but time of death is not one of them. As Chris said, your son may feel a bit emotional, but it may also pass without indications whatsoever. I've personally never experienced something like that. :)

Even though your son doesn't want to talk about it, I think you should write all of these experiences and coincidences down. Maybe someday he'll become interested and he'll appreciate it :)

Scottish Dad, I have a question: Who is the rock star that died in 1960? Using the internet, I cannot find anyone all that famous who died in 1960.

Please answer this question. Please remember that this person has been dead for nearly 50 years, so there should not be any problems with answering this question.

Scottish Dad, thank you for your time.

Respectfully,

Andrewx

Andrew he was relatively famous star, more in this country than homeland in America, according to Internet had he not died so young, he would have been more famous. He was killed in April 1960, in taxi at a town called Chippenham in England, I'm sure you can find out from these clues who he was. Cheers

It appears that the person you were talking about was Eddie Cochran.

I have a question for Scottish Dad: Why did you not just say Eddie Cochran when I asked the question? Eddie Cochran has been dead for nearly 50 years. Since that is the case, what is the big deal?

Respectfully,

Andrewx

Hi Andrew,

It's not always easy to come on a forum like this and reveal every piece of information straight away, even more so when it comes to a famous past life .... for obvious reasons. I'm sure scottish dad will share whatever he feels comfortable with, in his own time ;)

Please be patient with him I think he thought we know about him

It isn't really that relevant who he was, is it? It's not the central point of Scottishdad's question. It's a personal thing whether you want to reveal a past life identity or not. Even if it is 50 years ago there may be relatives still alive, perhaps even on this forum. That is also why there is a need for sensitivity towards it.

Yes, Andrewx that is who I meant, reason I didn't say was I wasn't sure what reaction would be, like "oh he doesn't have a normal reincarnation he has to have a famous one" that sort of thing. As it stands, he is just my son, not a long dead rock and roll star, so it is immaterial to me who he was. cheers

revealing a famous past life

As we've seen here time and time again over the past years, it isn't easy when someone has to reveal that they (or someone they know) may have been someone famous in a prior incarnation.

I was on this forum for quite some time before coming out with who I was previously, and back then we used to have at least one heated discussion going on all the time about the subject of FPL's. I still don't talk about it easily, even after writing a book on the subject.

Welcome to the forum, scottish dad, and thank you for sharing your story. Famous, infamous or obscure, our past lives are what make us who we are.

Sorry for going off topic, but I just had to say I don't necessarily agree with this claim. Surely past lives can and usually do affect us in many ways, but we can always choose to become something else entirely - especially once we've acknowledged the influence. I don't think past lives dictate what we are or become. Every lifetime is different with a different personality, in the end.

We'll have to agree to disagree, Karoliina, although this might make an interesting new topic. Just as my childhood experiences have contributed to make me what I am as an adult, my past life experiences have contributed to make me what I am in this lifetime.

The things I learned in other lifetimes have proven invaluable to me in the here and now.

Your mileage may vary, because not everyone learns from their past, and is thus doomed to repeat it.

Hi ScottishDad and welcome.

Sounds like a past life memory to me.

So many times these things are 'unconscious' and that is just how things are for the vast majority of people. Just as you describe your son's early aptitude for the guitar and liking for 1950s rock and roll - it is just natural to him and indeed, reincarnation is a very natural process and nothing to get upset about.

All the things you write about your son ring very true to me - the synchroncities, the aptitudes, the coincidences. I've never heard of Eddie Cochrane and don't really think it is relevant how famous (or not) he might have been. Similarly, it doesn't really matter if your son 'believes in reincarnation' or not. As Phoenix says, quite rightly, we have all had thousands of lives, whether we 'believe in it' or not, whether we remember them in any detail (as only a few do) or not, whether they were 'famous' or obscure, our past lives are 'there' all the same. Our past lives all play a part in making us what we are, who we are NOW. We are the sum of all our experiences, past, present and future. That's life.

A most interesting story. Thank you for sharing it. Long live rock and roll!

Hi scottish dad :)

I know you were a bit concerned about the 50th anniversary of Eddie Cochran's death, and your son's past life. It's now a few days since that day passed and having noticed you in the forum a few times over the last few days, I was just wondering if the day passed without incident? Was there any kind of visible affect on your son?

Hi Chris, as you say the anniversary has come and gone. He got through it ok, as you said, only thing was prior to date, he started getting chest pains and headaches, went to doc who discovered his blood pressure was through the roof. Doc put it down to stress, and prescribed pills, took bloods etc all tests negative, so no underlying problem. A 19 yr old with high blood pressure, not normal in my view, anyway its back to normal now, co-incidence or what? He also has now got a girlfriend, very nice girl, she was visiting one night, we happened to mention that he prefers 50's music, she said she loves 50's outfits, in fact has 3 dresses in the 50's style, and to prove it she turned up one day wearing one, it certainly is 1950's. Another co-incidence, I just don't know anymore, I don't want to believe it, but weight of evidence goes against me, or am I reading the wrong things into just co-incidences? Certainly as far as I'm concerned the jury is still out.

Thanks for the update

Some people don't believe in coincidences, I'm not sure what I believe in that department to be honest. In my present life I was born 8 years to the day after I died in my previous life, yet if time is just an illusion that we created in our physical form, then what is the correlation between 'time' and 'events'? In your son's case, 50 is just a number like 27 or 84, I'm sure the universe has no recognition of decimal, so why would we anticipate some 'sign' or something happening on the 50th anniversary? Sorry, just thinking aloud here. : angel

Interesting that he got a girlfriend with an interest in the 1950's, not a very common thing among youngsters these days. Makes me wonder if they were acquainted with each other in the past? ;)

Thanks again for the update, let us know if you find out anymore.

Chris :)

I'm where you're at, Scottish Dad, when it comes to so many coincidental events pointing to reincarnation. In the case of your son, I find your observations to be quite credible; and these two latest incidents certainly serve to strengthen the evidence. If your son knew nothing of your suspicions, then it is noteworthy that his blood pressure would mount as he neared the anniversary of the taxi accident. And, the girlfriend is certainly an interesting addition to your growing list of coincidences (synchronicities).

I think our own past lives would have to walk up and hit us squarely in the face before we allow ourselves to be won over by reincarnation evidence which can't be empirically proven. But, it's a credit to your intellect that you are open to the possibilities and willing to explore them. Please do stay in touch with updates, and take advantage of the knowledgeable resources in this Forum. The search never ends.

Thanx Chris, I'm with you on this one that dates mean nothing except in this world. I was thinking same about girlfriend, are they soulmates from previous life? She has never heard of Eddie Cochran before or indeed any old bands, she appears to have picked up on something he has said or done, she asked me about Eddie one night when son wasn't around, when and how he died etc. I asked her why she was asking, but she wouldn't go into detail, just she had these questions in her head, I directed her to the Internet to get answers, didn't want to appear to confirm her suspicions. For his birthday she got him a book on Eddie Cochran's life. I rest my case. Thanx Nightrain1 as you say needs to hit us squarely on face to believe it, wish it would settle it one way or other. I will update if any thing else crops up.

answers fo a sceptic

A little update. The other evening the wife and I were talking to son about his future plans, we asked why has he not got together with some musician friends and get a band together? Do something with his musical talent, as to be honest he doesn't appear to have any direction in life at moment. His reply was that it is too early yet, the time is not right. He said he will show them all (by that we think he means his old schoolmates) when he is ready. Now if our suspicions are correct, he died at 21 in previous life, does this mean he is waiting till he hits that age before he takes his guitar playing serious? I just dunno, he is getting bad chest pains that doc is putting down to stress, he has agreed to go for hypnotherapy to relieve it, maybe we can talk him into a regression session as well, maybe settle our suspicions once and for all. Anyone had successes with regression, or is it not conclusive?

scottish dad, your story is fascinating. Far from being just a relatively famous singer, just a brief search (I'd never heard of him either...), shows that he was a prolific performer. His fiancee, Sharon Sheeley, a talented song writer from California, was in the car that killed him, along with Gene Vincent of 'Be Bop A Lula' fame, and they both survived the crash.

The blood pressure incident is intriguing, and lets not forget that according to wiki, another of Eddie's good friends was Buddy Holly, who had died just a brief year before his own death. I would imagine that such a bereavement must have been a traumatic event for him to get over. I too have, this year been diagnosed with high blood pressure, for which there is absolutely no apparent reason, and it too has been put down to stress. But now that it's been mentioned here, it could be a result from any one of my past lives that I have memories of.

The other thing, regarding your concerns over an approaching date that has now passed; I have a cousin who is now in her thirties; but she has been with me in other lifetimes, and in one she died at the age of one month, and in another I believe that she died around her early teen years, maybe 15 or 16. I know that you must now be feeling relieved that the date in question has passed without incident, but I just wanted you to know that bad events in one life does not necessarily mean that they will re-occur in another. :)

Best wishes...

Hi,

What I think is more important than a birthday (be it death or something else) is the phase your son is in now scottish dad. He is now reaching the age he was when he died in his previous life as the (I must admit legendary) singer. I've read from people who for example had a past life at death by drowning around the age of forty, that when they again reached that age in the next life they suddenly became very scared of water. The little symptoms you're son is dealing with at the moment makes me think this could be the case with him. Bad chest pain seems to be caused by cel memory from that car crash imo. But be sure this is only temporarily and if you acknowledge this as a past life 'remainder' and conscious deal with this I see no problem in it on a longer term. Stress of course is an easy determined cause that can be applied by doctors to so many symptoms. I don't have any experience with hypnotherapy or regression but if you work with serious people I'm sure this might help. What is important is how your son feels about it. Send him my regards to ease the chest pain
