Are these past life memories?

I am a Christian and this goes against my religion. Yet I have had three memories my entire life.....that I think could be past life memories. One started very early in life.....It's not scary, but i remember fire and looking around and noticing a lot of destruction and an awful smell. There was a lot of fire. And a lot of panic and noise and screaming. I dont think I got this from tv...I wasnt even allowed to watch tv until I was 4 or 5, but I started dreaming this over and over when I was a toddler. The next memory is even more brief....I am wearing a potato sack style dress...I am a toddler, again, and I am running towards a small shack. That's it. The third, I drive a very old automobile...perhaps one of the first...to meet a man somewhere in a city. I have bright red finger nails. I sit with him and talk. He smells of alcohol and is very handsome. The talk does not go well. I leave heartbroken. I drive home sad, very vague memory. These have all come back to me in the forms of dreams...I awakened "knowing" what happened andthen forgot....but the first dream I had my whole life, the second almost my whole life....the last one, the one with the man, occurred in a dream in my late teens before I had even really studied too much history. So I dont know if the red nails and the car and the whiskey breath even line up. Please send me your thoughts because sometimes I think I am nuts. But especially the first two memories seem so very very real.....no doubt.

Hi Kid35lol and welcome to the forum :)

Thank you for trusting us to share your memories. You are not the first Christian here to be torn between your faith and reincarnation. You might find this thread interesting: Reincarnation and the Bible

I certainly think your three flashes could be past life related. They are quite similar in shape and form to the kind of memories I get: just a flash, an emotion, a smell, an action, snippets of conversations. Very few people experience long movie-like scenes. Would you be interested in investigating these memories further?

Being new on the journey exploring past lives myself, I don't have any answers or wisdom to share, other than offering encouragement. It's a lot to take in, especially when it goes against your religion, but it is worth looking in to more.

No scientist, priest, minister, or academic can tell you that your memories are not real. Some people could imply that what you experienced was put there by the devil, while others could suggest that what you experienced was a psychic connection with someone else's memory. However, when you read enough books by reputable authors, you will begin to realize that there is significant evidence that consciousness and our individual identities can and do survive physical death, and that we do have memories of past lives, though they are often very vague and sometimes entangled with physical and emotional problems within our present lives. Sometimes you know things that you take for granted until you realize that such knowledge could not have been obtained in this lifetime, or that others in your present lifetime know nothing of what you think is common knowledge.

You are not nuts, but you are not normal either. Congratulations! Because being normal is going through life thinking that all that you are is judged by some unseen father-figure purely on the basis of this one life; and that any happiness you may enjoy is purely based on how lucky you were to be born into good circumstances or bad.

Fortunately, you have found the courage to take a second look at your life and to question what is "normal" based on your own experience, and no one can question your judgment for doing so. Consider your memories as a toe-hold toward deeper meaning and discoveries that will change your life and those around you. Welcome to the Forum!

My Memories

My memories, if that is what they are, also come in dreams. and it is just like small clips put together, like it is missing parts, and it isn't complete. But they are so strong, and feel so familiar that I can not think of what else they could be. I am too a Christian and this goes against my beliefs, but when I look around I see no other explanation for these dreams.

Just the beginning

Actually, I've been interested in past lives for many many years, but a lot of the first impressions of the past were brought to me through dreams. The one thing that I found about most of my past life dreams were...they were true to the laws of nature...I could not fly to avoid danger...I could not overpower someone bigger than me through will power. I also found that the emotions were TRUE in those dreams, very strong.

It actually surprised me more than once because, I found myself on the Northern side of the U.S. Civil War in my dreams, (yet, I had always wanted to be a Reb.) And in that dream I also drove one of the first cars. It took a while to determine that the specific car existed in 1900, but yes it did, actually a few years earlier. I don't think I drove it very well though.

So, instead of annoying you with miles of my stories. What I wanted to say is that dreams were normally the door opening into a past existence. I personally have no trouble being Christian and believing most emphatically in past lives. I have been called names by my own cousin because she thinks I need to go to Church to save my soul. I believe that God wants us to be the best that we can be spiritually and if he or she gives us multiple opportunities to achieve that, we can succeed.

Welcome to the world of past lives, learn what you can about what these lives are trying to tell you.

Note, another thing....the first memories are normally very emotional, don't let that frighten you. Just like memories in this life...you remember your wedding but not what you ate for lunch last Tuesday.
