Can someone please suggest a good book for my 80 Year old Mom for her birthday.

Originally I was going to get one of Stevenson's or ralated works but trhere are so many to choose from. I would like to get the 'best' book on the subject of Past Life Memories probably the childrens ones since that seems to offer the most compelling case -- vs like peope who get so-called past life regression etc... BTW, thank alot for your time today!

Maybe this doesn't fit the exact criteria you are looking for but I think quality of writing and credibility are extremely important. You can't beat one of the best of all time. That is Brian Weiss and his breakthrough book, Many Lives Many Masters. Read a little bit about Dr. Brian Weiss and I think you will see what a credible person he is based on education. I believe she will really enjoy it.

Carol Bowman's books are probably the best there are for cases of children's past life memories. Old Souls by Tom Shroder is also a very good introduction to the topic from a skeptic.

Many Lives Many Masters is the book that drew me in . I could not put it down and I even bought the audiobook. I bought an extra copy to lend others.

Searching for something else, I just found this long list of books, with short descriptions. Maybe you can find there what you're looking for.

Personally, I would totally disregard a list that had Eben Alexander's Proof of Heaven on it. It was the top choice, too! In my opinion, it was a con job written by a much sued surgeon who needed a new day job, and thought he had found the perfect cash cow. Ian Stevenson's books tend to be quite dry, with the exception of European Cases of the Reincarnation Type, but certainly worth the time to read if you can stick with them. His predecessor Jim Tucker has written books that are much more readable. Brian Weiss' books are good, but he is totally into past life regression, which you said you did not want; and his last book, with his daughter, was too new-agey for me. I'll always see Carol Bowman's first book as being a classic, and definitely one of the best for childhood past life memories. She has an excellent bibliography, too. It's dated, but some of the older books on the topic are the best.
