Does the location of your death influence your next reincarnation?

I can't say definitively 'yes' or 'no'.

My life previous to this, I was born in Paris, France and killed in Fürstenberg, Germany. In this life, I was born in England, where I'd spent the most part of my previous life. As that is the only past-life I have definitively identified, I cannot give other examples.

In my previous life, I was raised, met and married my husband, and had my daughter in England. While, much like this life, I loved Paris, but England was my true home. Perhaps, that is why I was reborn here in this life. My soul had all of those 'fresh' connections, so it came to a place that was meaningful to it. London played a big part in my past-life, and in this one it is my favourite place to be. It's a home away from home to me. And, until now, I've not really been able to explain why. But, now, I sense it is that past-life connection. I met my husband in Hyde Park, I took up my cause in London, I cavorted with friends in London nightclubs.

Of course, these are just my thoughts.

For myself I figured out that I might have reincarnated in order to meet certain people, my long time friend and my dad. Why they are right here I don´t know. I´ve had a history with my dad in another PL where he was left behind, and I felt great guilt. All I can say is that my dad liked this country a lot (before he passed away, way too early) whereas I myself still feel like a foreigner. Since it is a quite safe, comfortable place with many achievements (health insurance for almost everybody, strong union, paid maternal leave) and a beautiful environment I´m still here.
 
I don't think there's a definitive answer for that.

Most of my PL have been in Asia and I've always felt like I belonged there. As of now, I've only seen one PL that was in America, and that was hundreds of miles from where I am now.

Why I chose to plop myself in the land of infinite cornfields, I have no idea.

The Seeker,

The short term answer to this is no! Once soul drops the heavy dense physical body it does natter or it does not care what happens to it after that. The best way I can describe this is after a hard day at work you are tired from it all and take off your heavy jacket or coat and drop it on the floor where ever it may lay as you are done with it now. What determines that souls next incarnation is the karma that was created and worked out both good and bad in the lifetime. Plus the stage of that souls spiritual development at the time of translating from the physical plane.

Later on the other side soul must spend a certain amount of time of the higher dimensions of our universe to experiences life on the astral and mental dimensions of being which is part of its heaven life before making the decision to incarnate again. Because any dreams, hopes, desires, wishes or spiritual aspirations along with any erroneous aberrations of a lower nature that were not realized or work out on earth by the incarnated personality and lower ego must by the law of karma be realized on the higher dimensions to be worked out and realized as well before the soul is ready to fully take on the process of incarnating back into the lower worlds of duality of time, space and matter again. So in a nutshell soul must live out it's life on the physical, astral and mental dimensions first. Once this has happened the soul finally withdraws itself from the lower world beyond the mental plane and takes residences in full consciousness on the casual/soul plane of being once again which is the true home of pure spirit. There is can decided if incarnating is necessary to further its inner growth and spiritual education and evolution as a spiritual being as there is no time there. From this vantage point soul can see and understand the bigger picture of it's total soul journey both past, present and future.

I agree with many people here. We can choose to stay or go, it's up to us and sometimes based on what our family / soul group is doing too.

From my conversation with people, I honestly think this is one reason many people don't believe in reincarnation. It's not likely that you're going to reincarnate as a doppelganger, two doors down. I think it seems to be beyond people's imagination to understand we do what we want and need to and that isn't defined by anything incarnate. People look at me and say you're not a girl or Chinese! So reincarnation isn't real to them. I think more people are willing to think that if a child dies young, it could come back as a second child, because god gave them a second chance. But they don't really stop and think about what happens to everyone else or if they even reincarnate at all.

If he had a reason to, sure. There's really no reason why he couldn't reincarnate in San Francisco. The universe is teeming with endless possibilities
 
I died in England, Russia, Japan, USA, among other countries. My death in those countries did not affect my present life, to be honest. Every case is different, of course.

I don't know if we chose our country, but I had visions and dreams about it. I chose a relatively calm Latin American country to live in because I was tired of living in big countries. This sounds superficial from a point of view where I don't have the complete vision.

If we have a choice, I guess there are specific reasons to choose a location. The only life where I died to be born in the same place was a life in Asia. I missed my wife. Years later I was born as his son. I don't remember another life where I was reincarnated in the same place or in a similar place.
 
Hello everyone, i am a hindu living in India.

I read somewhere in a spiritual book by paramahansa yogananda that humans have to take rebirth in all races and different cultures and countries so that our soul learns not to be attached to a particular race or culture. When one cycle is completed, we circle back until our soul has satisified all the desires and is ready to be liberated from this cycle of birth and death.

Really like your answer to the post. Sounds like you have had many different past life experiences so far. So it' sounds like you are searching (as soul) for some really deep meaningful experience to enrich your evolution as a spiritual being. We do actually chose (if we are evolved enough as soul) the country/culture we will experience along with many other details like, race, gender, health, family/karmic dynamics, soul groups ect... that will enable our spiritual growth and evolution as consciousness. If not there are other souls (masters, teachers, guides ect.. that will assist us in the planning of the new ego and personality that will be experienced in the new life. This is all done on the causal/soul plane. (please refer to my post on the causal body here).

From the causal/ soul plane we are actually above time as we understand it. So every experience in the lower worlds of duality is viewed as a singularity where all possible or probable outcomes of manifested realities are viewed all at once. This is where we decide our next incarnation before descending downwards in vibrations into the lower worlds of duality of time, space and matter on the mental, astral and physical planes. Here in the physical world time is experience in a linear way. On the astral it is somewhat more fluid but still limited. On the mental plane it much more improved but we can only go back so far even there. However on the causal/soul plane you can go back or forwards all you want to as you are not affected by time anymore. In fact there is no time from souls perspective as we are all eternal beings. It's an illusion of the mind. Which is why from the mental plane on downwards soul experiences the illusion of time.

But I guess that it is necessary for us to experience this as well which is why we are here in the first place. Many forget that our physical universe is also a spiritual dimension as well. One in which soul must experience in order to receive its spiritual education as most of the learning is actually done here. Because it is here that soul experiences many limitations, challenges, and obstacles to over come along with the extremes of duality itself. From a spiritual perspective this is kindergarten and elementary school. The astral would be junior high and high school and the mental plane could be viewed as college. The causal/soul plane and above and yes there are many other dimension beyond that would be considered the adult world of pure spirit which is our true home.

OK. Let's try this. In 2001 Carol wrote in her book "Return from Heaven":

“Some Stevenson cases offer examples of souls who do no planning whatsoever, which confirms what the past life therapists found. In these cases, after the person dies, the souls never leave the earth plane and remain in the vicinity of where they died. They hang out at the same location, sometimes for many years, and seem to be aware of the daily activities of people in the area. They may even try to interact with the locals, much as a ghost would. Until one day, the disembodied spirit spots a potential mother or father and is drawn to them, follows them home, and is reborn as their child. At first these cases sound too bizarre to be true – it’s easy to think the child could be making it all up. But in each case, Dr. Stevenson corroborates the statements by confirming that just before the conception of that child, one of the parents had been in the area where the child claimed to have been ‘hanging out’.”

Who's to say that the dead don't climb up into the ox cart with us in some manner or fashion (as much as their reality can intersect with ours)? Or who's to say that the dead don't follow us in our cars, boats, trains, or planes? Even at altitude. Why not? If the mountain doesn't come to Mohammed, then Mohammed must go to the mountain.

I highly recommend reading the whole book, by the way. Chapter 6 is a very good summary of Carol's knowledge to 2001 on the why's and how's of souls choosing their next incarnation.
 
Well.. yes and no.. I guess it depends really on how traumatised your soul is. In my WWII lifetime, I was born in Prussia and died in Poland. In my Civil War lifetime, I was born in the US and died in the US. In my Egyptian Queen lifetime I was born in what is now modern-day Syria and died in Egypt.

However, in this lifetime I had a LOT of healing to do with my WWII/Holocaust past life, so I picked a country as far away as I could get from Europe — New Zealand. The more I heal, the more I long for Germany and the Czech Republic.

Okaaaay. How about this snippet from Carol's 2001 book, Return from Heaven:

“The question of choice is critically important to same-family reincarnation. Many people, even some who believe in reincarnation, assume we have no choice in deciding our next incarnation, and this belief prevents them accepting the possibility of same-family reincarnation. They assume the distribution of souls is a random process, or, at best, a process ruled by the natural laws of karma or the whims of a divine being. Therefore, they have trouble accepting same-family reincarnation because if the soul has no choice, the chances of a soul returning to the same family are millions to one, virtually impossible.

“But in my research I have come across hundreds of cases of family return . . . . It stands to reason we wouldn’t be seeing any same-family cases if souls had no choice. The very existence of these cases of same-family reincarnation attests to the fact that there must be some choice, some intention, at least for some souls. . . .”

Although this excerpt only tangentially concerns Seeker's original question it does touch on the general Location question, so I thought it worth adding, especially in light of the Karma Rules All posts above.
 
As it is mentioned somewhere above, it's the person that matters, not the location. There seems to be a few patterns for some reason, a lot of people who reincarnated in Germany between 1900-1915 seemed to have lived before in England or the USA, and after that they went back to the US. But that's what I see in forums, which could be biased. I don't think my current place of birth is strictly related to where I died. It was more likely an actual well thought decision motivated by ideology, past experience, and possibly even paranoia, nostalgia and stubbornness. The more I think about it, the more it looks more like an intellectual decision than an emotional or spiritual decision, like when you choose to buy something and you compare price, quality, etc., and it makes so much sense that it's laughable. However, even if it makes sense, it would have been a better move to go back to Germany, but who knows, there may have been other factors that I' m unaware of.
