Hurricane Idalia

Hurricane Idalia is expected to strengthen to at least category 3 and now possibly category 4 storm before making landfall on the Gulf Coast and sweeping across an area in Florida that will impact Totoro and I sometime between Tuesday evening and Wednesday evening. We expect fairly massive damage and no power for some days afterwards. However, storms are not always predictable. Perhaps it will veer to East or West, but unless it does something incredible we will be getting plenty of problems in Florida and South Georgia.

Cordially,
S&S

PS--Prayer is good! I am definitely hoping from some help from above.
PPS--Sometimes living in the Sub-Tropics is not so great. 😖
PPPS--Anyone else likely to be impacted, feel free to let us know.

Good morning S&S!

IIRC you're more north of me and currently that's projected to get the more direct hit of it.

I'm in the NE corner, which always sucks. The wind and rain tend to be a bit more severe.

You never know though where anything can shift.

Are you prepared / going to be ok? Do you have any health issues that may be a concern with the hurricane?

Thanks for thinking of me!

I'm in neither Georgia nor Florida, but I am still in the path area. Thank you for your thoughts.

Hi All,

Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers! :) It is morning here (approx 9:30 a.m.) and all is well so far in my locale. The storm took a sudden veer to the West (though still within the cone), and took its worst with it. So, we are largely out of danger at this point, and just hoping the lights stay on and the winds don't tear up the roof. We're projected to top out where I am with sustained winds of 35 mph and intermittent wind gusts that can far exceed that. However, such conditions are not much worse than we sometimes get (more briefly) in Florida thunderstorms, it is just going to last a lot longer. Fortunately, we have substantial woods and wind breaks around our house, which help a lot in situations like this. (It is the trees next to the house that we worry about  ).

Cordially,
S&S

PS--Hi Rod, we're all set in terms of the usual necessities. We have a fair amount of camping gear, which comes out at times like this, and stocked up on water.
PPS--Hi Totoro, I think you guys got it worse than we will due to the storm passing so close to you on your West. It is also on our West, but much farther away.
PPPS--Hi Melon, I hope all goes well for you. This storm is by no means over, so I will be praying for you as well!
