Is it likely I really had a past life or not?

When I was four, I remember saying to my mother weird stuff like, "Don't we all come from somewhere else when we're born" or "Don't we become another person when we die?" Is this common behavior for a child with a past life? My mom said no, that does not happen and I remember feeling very confused and like what I think must be true and that I had experienced life as another person who spoke another language. Judging from the words I would make up, probably eastern European. I don't recall any exact conscious memories about who I was, but I did have rather unexplainable phobias and things that seem bizarre and off for a child that age. For example, I felt like I knew what it was like to be tall and gangly but I was average height and build. When I was about 4 or 5 I had an older man's voice in my head who had a distinctive mustache that would tell me what to do (of course I was aware that it was in my head and not real). This went away completely at 8 or 9.

My best guess is that I was an eastern European child taken from my parents and raised in a lebensborn home who later as an adult, died in a soviet concentration camp. I dunno if this is possible with the timing of the war but it seems most logical to me based on deja vu memories and separation anxiety, fear of being raped etc. I think I may have died in the camp of pneumonia or an STD and been brutally raped. As a child I was very sensitive to sex offender creepiness and I was not told that about strangers. I also had terrifying dreams of being gang raped, mostly as an adult woman in the dream but sometimes I was a child. I also have other theories about what my past life could be, like being my 13 year old sister of my grandmother who died from having inexact insulin (they were Polish and may have speaken the language) but this is the one I think is most likely.

Is it just that I want to tack on the idea of a past life and that I've suffered or is this really the source of my problem? Cause I feel stupid when I read about children who report past life memories in great detail. I realize this is all a bit hard to read, but it is pains taking to explain.

Hi Female Soul, and welcome to the Forum!

The questions you asked your parents were not common, but you might be surprised how often children ask such questions.

There are many insights to be gained by exploring Reincarnation and your own possible experiences and memories. Of course, who and what we are in this life is more important than who and what we were in the past. But, as you are pointing out, there may seem to be much in our past lives that still affect us in this life.

It can be a very long path for some people, but you will see examples among members of the Forum who have had a much easier path. I hope you have the courage and fortitude to continue your search with us, because we have so much resource that you can benefit from.

You can start by reading the FAQ section and exploring the other sections. Ask questions and don't be fearful of asking the right ones.

Thanks. That's interesting because my mom said this stuck in her memory because it seemed like a VERY odd thing for a four year old to say in her opinion.

The only way I think I can remember anything about a past is if I were to become hypnotised. I'm of the opinion that past lives don't occur in everyone, possibly most people or even just a very tiny statistic. But I could change my mind. I think its possible I don't have a past life and that I am just have a rather bizarre imagination (typical of July 7th people if you read the secret language of birthdays). But the phobias I had as a child and the ones I recently discovered do reinforce the idea in my mind because they are highly selective, and I didn't have any reason to acquire them.

First of all, most of us firmly believe that Past Lives occur with everyone on Earth. It's just the ability to remember that is unusual -- but, not rare.

It just happens that some folks have such life-changing traumas in their past life, or there is some unknown purpose in having memories from the past bleed through into this one, that it behooves them to seek out good qualified help.

In the FAQ section of this Forum, you'll find a thread entitled, "Where Can I Find a Reputable Hypnotherapist?". Please read through it and see if you can locate someone near you.

Thanks a lot.

And oh I also forgot to add. I would draw repetitive pictures of lightning bolts as a very young child, which I find quite interesting.

Hi, and welcome Female Soul.

Life is a mystery and there are some things that seem somehow inconceivable but are perhaps a glimpse into something greater; Past Life memory is one of those.

We often want to disregard many things as just imagination, but if you think about it, what is imagination? Imagination is a very powerful and unique thing, and explaining it as just some random chemical signals is in my opinion disingenuous. So listen to what you currently believe might just be your imagination and see if there is anything in it that feels familiar and/or gives you an emotional feedback. Sometimes truth can be found with the most irrational thing in existence - emotions.

Also, as Nighttrain mentioned, kids exhibiting some past life behaviour and even memories isn't as uncommon as you might think it is. I've mentioned past lives to some random people(friends, my hairdresser, and so on) and if they are not completely closed off on the subject they will suddenly remember incidents of children they know.

It's a weird ride dwelling into past lives and the literature, but it can be highly enjoyable and enlightening. :)

Hello Female soul,

these lightning bolts could be the symbol of the SS. They used an ancient S-rune called Sowulo. It looked like a lightning bolt.
