Military Coup

Hello,

Yesterday I had a dream; it probably means nothing but thought I should share it anyway because it was clear and interesting and does actually contains things indicating a past life memory.

In that dream I was in a city, strangely a city having the same structural design and citizen’s ethnicity of another city I saw in a past life regression a few months ago, it might be the same city.

It seemed like a capital city or at least a major city of an African or south American nation, big and grubby with French or at least old European building designs, I can describe it as a third world version of Paris with a military rule.

I was in a small apartment in a brown building across a main and crowded street with cars and pedestrians, approximately in the third floor out of about a five storey building; each floor in the building was quite high so the building was huge and connected with other similar buildings all parallel to the Main street from both sides, the same applies to almost the rest of the city, generally the city seemed over populated and extremely unorganised, with terrible traffic situation, as there was a bad traffic jam across the street and pollution.

It was a sunny and a very hot afternoon, and there seemed to be a military coup or an invasion or some sort of unrest.

I went towards the window and saw lots of people screaming and running, from the left way of the main street towards the right, cars were also included within the general stampede, and the noise became a mixture of screams and car horns.

During the dream I did not recognise I was a different person until I accidentally saw myself in the reflection of the window glass, the person in the reflection was about 30 years old, sweating from the hot weather, dark skinned and wearing a white under wear shirt.

An old man and woman came from a next room seemed to be like his parents, the old man was also wearing a white under wear shirt, both men seemed calm and staring outside from the window, while the mother started crying and sat at a chair away from the window, she was wearing what seemed to be like a purple mantilla and blue blouse, she did not seem to be scared but crying of sadness, as if she’s been through a similar situation before.

In a few moments the stampede is almost over, then tanks and military vehicles and marching soldiers started to appear in the main street, coming from the left and heading towards the right, their movement was organised, like a parade, yet tanks were bumping on mini parked cars beside the street from time to time.

I started looking for slogans or flags in order to find out who are these people, as I understood; this nation had more than one enemy, insurgents could be found hiding every day within the city, I did see slogans containing the colours red and black, I don’t remember the shape.

Suddenly, while I was examining the militants underneath, a massive explosion occurred, as a result of a hand grenade thrown from somewhere above our apartment storey, I couldn’t see what was harmed or destroyed, but in a few moments the building was entered into by the militants and fired at from the outside, one soldier broke into our apartment, wearing old, dirty and torn up military clothes, holding an old fighting rifle pointed at me and my parents, it was one of those rifles that had something like a sharp piece of steel at its point for close combat.

The dream ended at this point.

However, the regression I had a few months before, involved almost the same city, and a small apartment whether this one or else, having a big woman cooking and signing, she was cooking something with custard, and she was wearing a blouse with colourful squared patterns and blue trousers.
That’s it.

Any clues what country or city this might be? I could not remember more details than this, unfortunately including the shapes and designs of vehicles; they were a bit squary though, mostly white cars and lots of mini cars, they were not oval like today’s cars, the only detail I could remember about the tanks is that they were brown.

Hi Rainmaker,

Very interesting dream, thanks for sharing

My initial thoughts, after reading about the French connection, was that maybe you were remembering a past life in Algeria?

Do you mind me asking how old you are? There is a history of conflict in Algeria up to as recently as the 1991 Algerian Civil War. There was also the Algerian War of Independance in 1954. Information on all of this can be found on Wikipedia, I wonder if any of it resonates with you?

Hi Rainmaker, and thanks for the interesting post.

Your above descriptions brought to mind the Cuban Revolution of January 1959.

I know that the red and black colors were used often by socialist and marxist insurgents in several countries including Spain, for example, during the Spanish Civil War.

Angola is another Red and Black flag that is worth looking into. The country went through some of the most horrendous fighting between a number of different insurgents.

Hey Chris,

I am 25 years old, and yes, it is pretty obvious that the city had a French connection, most likely it was historically colonized by France or other European nations then gained independence, it was not a European city yet the buildings were clearly not normal buildings or even modern buildings but they were old European buildings similar to these ones in Cairo, Egypt http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:ColArchCairo.jpg

Or this one in Havana http://www.offbeattravel.com/havana-1.jpg

Hello Nighttrain1

It’s very interesting to think about the colors of socialisms, which made think of other possibilities, in the dream my intention was to find symbols or logos, and I recently remembered that the symbol I saw was actually close to me, as if it was inside the apartment and not held by the militants down the street, this made think that the troops on the street might be government troops and not insurgents, making an unexpected raid against other government insurgents or objectors hiding inside the building, it is also more logical for an insurgent to secretly attack government troops by a hand grenade, causing random fires at the building and not the opposite, and lastly, an organized parade actually suits government troops.

Perhaps having the red and black symbol near me, makes me a socialist, maybe not.

Angola was a French (oops, Portuguese) colony; but, the time frame would be within reason. When you mentioned the soldier with the torn and dirty clothes and a somewhat older rifle with bayonet suggested that he might have been one of the three different insurgencies that were trying to establish dominance in the various provinces. The red and black colors were used by two different left-wing insurgencies, which had their share of fighting against each other. The Russian/Cuban backed insurgents had a gold star in the center, and the more moderate insurgents had something that looked like a hammer & sickle, but were really a part of a gear crossed by a machete. I believe the second one eventually prevailed and a totally new flag was being considered. The AK-47 would have been the typical rifle used, and it could have had the appearance you described because of the wood stock and barrel grip. The better equipped mercenary troops would have used mostly all black weapons from the U.S. and Europe.

Haiti was a French colony and did use a variety of colors, and the time frame for some of their conflict could also be appropriate.

Uses of red and black were also used in other conflicts and civil wars, and very often were arranged diagonally. In other places the red and black colors were used with green. In the case of Angola, the red and black colors were arranged horizontally.

I might note that the use of these colors began as a symbol of anarchism; and, though it was later adopted by socialist insurgents, it has also been adopted by many political movements, which were merely fighting the injustices of tyrannical dictatorships.

Unfortunately, there are not enough colors to suit the needs of every philosophy that exists in the world today. But, as long as we respond to color identities, there will always be a lot of room for a myriad of confusing and contradictory associations involving political groups, religions, heraldic and fraternal organizations, motorcycle clubs, corporations and street gangs.

Hey Nightrain,

Thanks for the useful information, interesting information you got there, the life I saw might be in Cuba, or Angola, or Algeria, am still not sure, maybe none of them, but the scenario of the dream was very organized and realistic, not like the rest of the random illogical dreams I usually have, so am pretty convinced that this was a vision of a recent past life.

Interestingly about Angola, I did browse some pictures like this one from Angola http://pt.globalvoicesonline.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/2602467258_d010b884e6.jpg and does contain some similarity from the city I saw in the dream; I am not saying full similarity, but it’s all about coincidence of the angle of the picture, its height, and the unorganized traffic beneath, perhaps there are some colonial building style somewhere in Angola for being a European colony once, if it weren’t for that, the picture would have been perfect.

Thanks,
