Hi everyone

....
I just thought of another two films which are good to watch although they don't so much deal with reincarnation as they do life after death and heaven/hell. These are:
***** Dogma *****
# The great grand niece of Jesus Christ is enlisted to prevent two angels from reentering Heaven and thus undoing the fabric of the universe. Along the way, she is aided by two prophets, Jay and Silent Bob. With the help of Rufus, the 13th Apostle, they must stop those who stand in their way and prevent the angels from entering Heaven. (Summary written by Jerel Parenton at the Internet Movie Database).
# Dogma tells the story of a woman who is picked by two renegade angels to save humanity. (Summary written by Mark Stewart at the Internet Movie Database).
# The movie is about a woman (Fiorentino) who joins the 13th apostle (Rock) in trying to prevent two angels cast out of heaven (Damon & Affleck) from returning -- an event that could bring about the end of the world. (Summary written by Ribcage at Dogma Rumor Control).
THIS film has been extremely contaversial as hard line Christians consider the film itself (so I have read) a "sin" and if you happen to like the film you are going to Hell as it is contrary to what is said in "the good book". Me? I consider it a funny film with a great commentary on standard religion and a interesting view on God, Jesus, and heaven/hell....
***** Heaven can wait (the original 1978 version) *****
# Joe Pendleton, quarterback of the American football team Los Angeles Rams, is looking forward to leading his team to the Super Bowl when he is involved in a terrible collision with a truck. An overanxious guardian angel plucks him out of his body early in the mistaken belief that his death was imminent, and Pendleton arrives in the afterlife. Once there, he is informed by the mysterious Mr. Jordan that his divinely ordained time of death hadn't yet come, and that his body has been cremated. A new body must be found, and that of recently murdered millionaire Leo Farnsworth is chosen. Farnsworth's wife Julia and personal secretary Tony Abbott, who are lovers and the murderers of his new body's former inhabitant, are confused by this development, as Joe/Farnsworth buys the L.A. Rams in order to once again be the star quarterback. In order to succeed, he must first convince, then secure the aid of, long time friend and trainer Max Corkle to get his new body in shape to lead his team into the Super Bowl. Simultaneously, he also falls in love with a environmental protester Betty Logan who wants to confront the billionaire industrialist whose body he now occupies. However, Julia and Abbott are not quite ready to give up on their plans to re-murder the body which Joe has lately appropriated...
This is a great film also though not my favorite. It was fun, funny, and made one think. While it is not a reincarnation film (it's more of a walk in film) it is a great afterlife film worthy of any collection.....
Another couple of film's are these: "Altered States" which delves into the fact/theory of "genetic memory". It is by no means a reincarnation film, but it is a great film none the less as it deals with some very primal subjects; Good/evil, love, "genetic memory" in one's body of the past. The first time I saw it it scared the crap out of me big time but was a great film to see anyways. The book was much better though (and more emotional too).....
The other film I am thinking of I can't remember the name of but it went something like this: Scientist A & B create a virtual reality program which is truly great to see. At one point, scientist B is working in the lab and after burning her arm on a soldering iron, begins to have a heart attack. She knows she is going to die, so she put's this virtual reality device on her head and RECORDS her own death as well as what happens afterwards!
The other scientist proceeds in the rest of the film to try and get a hold of this recording so he can see what happened. Much chaos insures during this time and in the end he finally gets the recording. In a phone booth he starts playing the recording and what is shown is truly fascinating in the extreme. In the end he has to choose between dying and living, and he chooses living due to love. The love of his wife calling him back.....
It is a great film, quite fascinating in scope, and again is a worthy film to add to anyone's collection. I just wish I could remember the name of the film. Anyone seen either of these two films and more importantly, does anyone remember the name of the second film? What did you think of these films if you saw them (as well as "heaven can wait" and "dogma)?
Peace......
