Our Psychic "Gifts"?

What are the Psychic “gifts” that most of us seem to use day to day in varying degrees?

The most important gift I feel is Precognition, the ability to know of something that is going to happen in the future.

This seems to be a built in gift used for survival in our more primitive ages as it would try to warn us of impending dangers around the corner!

It is possible that instances of “Deja Vu” are in fact related to Precognition as it may give us a accurate visual picture of a unknown place.

There are other instances related to Precognition such as knowing of a ringing phone in the future or thinking of a person and then seeing them.

This gift of Precognition ties in nicely with Reincarnation as it seeks to provide skills necessary to provide protection for a soul trying to fulfill a goal in a certain lifetime.

So does anyone have a favorite gift, one perhaps they might even have and use?

Probably the best gift I have is the ability to receive Instant Knowledge in connection with meditation & past life research. Quite often, within days or just weeks of a deep and meaningful meditation, I'll be given insight into important details that advance my research.

On the surface I don't put much stock in psychics or those who claim psychic ability. Still, I have had the following experiences so I can't dismiss such experiences off hand:

I get *very* frequent deja-vu to the point where it's happens more than once a week, sometimes daily. This reached a peak last year when I entered a casino in Edmonton (a place I'd never been) and instinctively 'remembered' being there and knew the entire layout upon entering. It was the most bizarre feeling because I don't like or care for casinos.

I've also had a ton of weird experiences where I will think of a very specific song and when I return to my car an hour or two later it's on the radio. This happens very frequently to the point where I can't dismiss it as a funny co-incidence.

I instinctively seem to know when someone is about to make a really stupid driving mistake and am always able to prepare for them. This came to a head when I had felt a presence tell me to not take off on the next green light only to have a Transport Truck fly through the red light and 80km/h. If I had proceeded normally I would have been a goner.

Finally, I seem to really struggle with otherwise simple problems (especially back in school) but I have occasionally been able to instantly solve them like a lightning bolt struck me. I remember learning to skate: I was downright terrible and practiced for hours upon hours. In short, I was a laughing stock. Finally, I was suddenly just able to do it almost flawlessly within seconds. I had no idea how but I suddenly knew how to do it with almost no effort.

Yesterday I did a tarot card reading for one of my son's friends who were visiting us. This is not to say that I know what I am doing, or that I even believe in such things; and I even warned her of my own misgivings, and that I would be laying out the cards and reading them literally "by the book", since I would be referencing each card in its respective position directly from an "apprentice" book that I've owned for a number of years.

To make a long story short, she privately asked her question to herself, keeping it a secret until I had finished the reading. The results were uncanny, and were further validated by her as she explained the question out loud after the reading. The conditions surrounding her question were exactly accurate and specific enough that they could only have described her situation and none other. To put it mildly, I was stunned!

Throughout my life I have been a skeptic of such things. However, my curiosity has led me to explore the existence of things not so obvious, or occult if you will, which involved everything from Telepathy and Precognition to Reincarnation and After Death Experiences. I have studied Religion, Astrology and other forms of Divination and have read numerous books that have covered the field of Parapsychology, Mediums, Shamanism and Remote Viewing, looking for any consistent threads of reality. But, I have never completely surrendered my belief to any of these things.

Yet, I have witnessed things, like the tarot reading last night, which give clear indications that there may be something "out there" which cannot be explained by our normal senses and our traditional science. I stand by my assertion that I am not a "psychic" person. Yet, I firmly believe that each of us is connected in varying ways to mysteries beyond our understanding. What we know for certain will only fill a thimble full of the total information available in the universe, which is the one major reason that I feel Reincarnation is absolutely necessary, if not absolutely factual. For, if we accept that our lives are built on acquiring knowledge, why should it end with one life when all we have done is to have barely scraped the surface of all there is to know?

Regardless of how we define the word "psychic", it is important to remember that ALL of our discoveries throughout history have come as a result of someone's stubborn investigation of the unknown, the mysterious, and the impossible.

Don't know if it's a psychic ability or not, but I have a knack for looking at the larger picture of history. Much of what I see happening now, I've seen happen before. Nothing new under the sun.

Oh i agree completely, but I want to add, if you don't consider yourself psychic, consider this: obviously at one point, you were sensitive or aware enough to recognize something that put you onto your research about past lives.

it may not be "psychic" in our modern definition, but it's a sense, a 6th sense no less. a sensitivity, an awareness..whatever you want to call it.

for instance, I have a friend that's building models of the great pyramid of giza out of granite for energy experiments (not full sized obviously) and with my hands, I can tell where the energy is, how much there is and it's guided him to better results.

by the same token, i've done readings and been guided to certain books by the same energy. I've been able to independently confirm those readings as well.

I think the word psychic is cliche, but I can feel energy. I wouldn't call my self a psychic, but I would say that I have more of an awareness of a sense that people may have forgotten they have.

Many many types of animals and insects can detect energy fields and changes within them. There's been plenty of accounts of it lately in the news with the earth quakes we've had in America.

is it that crazy to think that humans would also have this same sense as well? We've proved humans also have pheromones, something that was considered quackery until someone decided to look for it.

Yesterday I was with my sister and my young niece. She was asking us to think of a number ... and in about 90% of the time she was correct in her guess .. and even more uncanny, in about 85% of the time my sister and I chose the exact same number.

We were choosing a number between 1 and 10.

Also, for the first time I was able to get my niece to converse with my father. The information he gave her was the same he had given me at a different time.

I asked my sister why she does not have that ability and she said she ignores it, that it does not happen to her.

He once came to her in a dream and gave her a hug. My brother experienced the same dream. I asked my father why I did not have the same experience and he told me that I did not need it, that I talked to him.

That means one of my father's daughters and all three of his granddaughters are psychically gifted. Pretty neat I think.

My psychic gifts seem to be enhanced with certain people. With psychic friends I get mental images of answers to questions they have voiced...and they are surprisingly accurate.

With the ex-fiance we had some kind of communication vibe (pre-cellphone) that enabled me to think of cooking dinner and she'd bring groceries, think of calling her and the phone would ring with her on it, be awakened at midnight by my name being shouted...call her and she was in distress (illness or lonely) and wanted to talk to me (long distance relationship). When we were apart, we would still run into each other in places we had never been together or discussed. Only in retrospect does that seem really different and special...at the time they were just weird coincidences...

What you said, about psychic gifts being enhanced with "certain people", strikes an important note with me. While re-reading Dr. Dean Radin's book, "The Conscious Universe" I found myself lingering on one statement he made, that in all the research he and others have done pertaining to clairvoyance, the evidence (data) seems to improve in proportion to the relative importance of the information being perceived by the subject. In other words, the more dramatic results involved a "psychic" exchange or perception of information whenever the information had personal significance to the person being tested.

This should come as no surprise to anyone familiar with the many anecdotal accounts of people who have had psychic experiences involving a loved one. But this fact seems to be completely overlooked by many scientists and skeptics who devise and critique tests using people who have no personal attachment to the information being examined.

One case in point involves Dr. Sam Parnia, who is presently studying the Near Death Phenomenon in a number of hospital ICUs. The present criteria that he is using involves the installation of shelves near the ceiling, which reveal images and messages that can only be seen, if someone is hovering near the ceiling. The sad reality is that the whole world is waiting with baited breath for an outcome, which may never appear. Why? Because, who would consider such a sign as important when they are dying and more concerned about their loved ones?

It is unfortunate that this mindset exists among Scientists, as well as the general public. Psychic ability is not something that can be studied in the same way as mental illness by objectively studying a cross-section of the general population and by using the same criteria as one would use studying rats in cages. I think it is enough that "psi" has been utterly proven to exist.

One thing that I've always had an uncanny ability to do (which I think stems very much from past life development) is to be able to just look at someone and determine whether or not they were in the Navy (or have a merchant marine background, etc.).

I think most people can tell whether or not someone has a military background by their general demeanor, but to me someone who has an Army background has a distinctly different (I would say "aura" here, but I can't see auras ...) vibration than someone who has spent a lot of time at sea.

This would have been a valuable survival skill in a past life as a privateer. And seeing that I have had this ability all my life (even though I grew up far from any ocean and no one in my immediate family is a sailor) I'm hard-pressed to say where it came from, otherwise.

You're right, people that don't believe they have the ability or ignore it, tend to not appear to have it, but at times, for unknown reasons, it will burst forward, but again, if we ignore it, only we will know.

A classic example of a gift that we all have, but most people either don't believe in it, don't properly use it, or are not attuned to that “little voice” within all of us.

I still believe it is a gift we have always had, in this lifetime and in past lives, and in ancient times was used as a survival tool to stay alive.

Nowadays it is still just as important as it was in the ancient times, and for the same reasons, but also for more modern reasons.

So please listen for that “little voice” within, and you'll be surprised at what your mind is trying to tell you.

I caught myself trying to use your old user name!
:)

I couldn't agree with you more, as usual you hit the nail right on the head, especially the part about using people who have NO personal attachment to the information being examined!

To Jody:

I agree with you thoroughly, the Aura is also a valuable survival skill that few people utilize, accept or believe in.

You mentioned that you can't see Aura's, but perhaps as a young child you could, and accepted it as normal and moved on, and as you got older, could still see them, but in a sub-conscious way.

I believe that all of us can, but if we don't believe in it or nurture it, then perhaps it falls into disuse, rather like tying your arm to your body and not using it, and sooner or later, it too will atrophy.

This holds true in seeing Aura's as well as other gifts, use these gifts and nurture them and they will enhance your lives in ways you never thought possible.

I don't know if I can call what I have a "gift" because I really wish I didn't have it. :(

I've always been very sensitive, ever since I was a young child. I've been told that I'm an empath - I can feel emotions whether it be from one person or a group of people. It's very stressful to be around a lot of people because I experience an overload of emotions hitting me from all sides. I also know when someone is lying or if they're sincere. When I'm around a person or people who are very negative, I actually hear a low buzzing sound, like flies buzzing around me. The buzzing sound is my red flag - I've learned over the years to steer clear away from this person or these people as much as possible.

Lately, within the last 3-4 years, I've been able to feel if there is danger around a person, will actually physically feel the person's symptoms, or will have some sort of vision. I usually don't know who it's going to happen to, when it's going to happen, or what will happen but I usually find out later that my intuitions were right.

A month before my aunt suffered a deadly stroke, I woke up in the middle of the night feeling extremely dizzy and disoriented. It was frightening because I thought I was having some sort of brain aneurysm or something. After a few minutes, the symptoms disappeared and I was able to eventually fall asleep. I later found out what happened to my aunt.

In February, a month before the deadly earthquake/tsunami hit Japan, I was looking at a couple of pictures of a friend who lives in Japan and I suddenly felt that there was danger around him. I also saw red crosses floating across his face. To this day, I don't really know what the symbolism to the red crosses were - perhaps it was a sign to me that the higher powers would protect him because I heard later that he was safe and well.

Last year, I told a friend at work that I "felt death around me". At that time, I was really worried because I was afraid that it was going to be someone very close to me, like my mother. Months later, a coworker (who I was not really close to), committed suicide.

I have had a number of psychic insights and one thing I do know is that I can't force them. They happen at times I am not expecting them out of the blue. Some I have been able to verify, others I have not.

The most disturbing one happened at a friend's funeral. This friend had committed suicide and the reason he gave was that he felt he had done everything he wanted to in life and could see no reason to continue living. He was living in a country half a world away from his homeland and family and had personal and business interests with the couple who organised his funeral. As I was leaving the funeral and was paying my respects to one of this couple I had this sudden very strong and overwhelming feeling that this person had a part in his death. Obviously this is something I have never been able to verify but to this day it concerns me whenever I remember it.

To Aaab:

I agree 100%, if I try to force a “gift”, say, the winning lottery numbers for today, I fail terribly, either because I'm trying to force myself, or because the gifts are really meant for a good use (winning the lottery would be a good use!) ;)

It is very possible you may be right, that the person you got the “vibes” off of, did indeed play a part in the friends death, but it is so hard to prove, and go to the Police and they will politely usher you to the door while shaking their heads.

You sound like the type of person who believes in themselves and their “gifts” and uses them, without thinking, in their everyday life, and this is how it should be, to have these “senses” intertwined with our physical senses!

To Jere:

You symptoms are describing perfectly to me, a classic empath, and you are right, it is a difficult “gift” to have, almost like having a handicap.

I can feel some vibes, but only if the person is highly agitated (barring any physical signs) you however sound much more sensitive than most!

Your gift appears, in some parts, to be a valuable modern day survival tool, and in other parts, to help draw somebody out of their shell and to help them!

To Hydrolad...

I haven't learned to completely tune out the emotions I pick up from people around me but I'm learning. The most I can do at the moment is just remind myself to stay calm and try not to focus on the feelings/emotions around me. It is very difficult, especially when meeting someone for the first time. I'm not one to judge a person at first meeting but I've learned over the years that if I'm not comfortable with the person from the start (no matter how friendly they may be) or if I'm feeling reluctant to join the person, say for lunch or to hang out, there's usually a very good reason...and I usually find out later when the mask comes off. I try to give the person the benefit of the doubt but by doing so, I've been betrayed and hurt many, many times. I mostly keep to myself because I can't trust too many people. So, in a way I guess you could call what I have a handicap.

But in all honesty, I can live with trying to deal with vibes from people - it's the premonitions of danger or death that I wish I could stop. Maybe if I could feel positive things like love or money coming in, then I'd be okay with it.

Many thanks for your kind words.
