I apologize before hand if anyone thinks I am crazy. I think I am a little crazy too - even writing this, so it is OK if you think so too... Ok here I go:

There is "something" that has more or less been around me for years now. Things happen now and then. I don't know what to call it - ghost perhaps?

The last couple of years or so, maybe longer, things happen now and then that I have a difficult time trying to explain to my child are nothing, yet I find myself trying - just want her to feel safe, right? We all just sort of ignore it - even as the sounds are not easy to ignore. At first I thought that perhaps I am the only one hearing it so I better not say anything, but then the rest of the family went "What was that?!". The sounds of things being thrown - like porcelain of a kind to the floor and breaking is one sound. Then you go down and you inspect every room - but nothing is laying there on the floor, broken. I've tried to blame the neighbors but it definitely sounds as it is coming from our home, our kitchen or the living room. As sudden as the noises come - as sudden they are gone.

There has been several times when I thought it was my husband who went through the home and opened a door, or even got into bed to sleep. Only when I turn around - no one there. I mean I have really felt the weight of a man coming to bed, yet my husband was downstairs looking at the television. (should perhaps add that is all that happens. Like a person that goes to bed to sleep, nothing else). I have asked my husband about it later - did he come to bed and later got up? I have again and again tried to tell myself I have imagined it. I have seen the kind of dark fog come together in the middle of the night when I woke up and just felt a presence. I stared right at it standing close to the bed. Then it just vanished again. Again and again I would try to blame the lighting etc. And just forget about it. A lot of things has happened over the years. It is perhaps the "classic" things - electricity get fooled with etc. I always want to check if it is a logical reason behind it. I really want it to rather be that than it for it to be a ghost.

When my daughter was getting old enough to speak she said to us that she would see a man, but his feet did not touch the ground. She always said he was "up-up". She said it happened mostly at night. We did not want her frighten so we let her sleep with us. We thought perhaps she made it up because she was just frighten to sleep alone. My husband has tried to spend the night in her room alone to see if he can see shadows etc that might fool her to think it is the ghost. My husband has heard clear steps (sound as if a man is walking, not a woman) only to find no one there. We have both seen door handle being pushed down as if someone is trying to open it and get in - but again, no one on the other side of the door (and the door handle was not broke or loose and could go down by itself).
One day a friend told me that she had for a long time seen something standing close to me, or being drawn to me at times that was of a dark fog thing, and it was as if it was in the back of the eye. She told me straight out that "it's a man". Said she had not seen nor felt this before in her life.

I have felt a particular smell that I can not place to belong to anyone of those I have loved and lost. I will get back to the smell later on. It comes and goes. I can't place it to any smell I have felt in this life.

Under past life regression meditation I experienced being "Laura", A Mormon girl living in a marriage with a man that had survived WW1.

We loved one another but it was from the start more of a team work, he needed help on his ranch, and that I was younger, still just in my upper teens when we were married and he was I think somewhere in his upper 20s. This was before the war. It is possible that he had had a wife that had passed away before.

During the war he broke up with me because he was angry that I was working as a nurse when he ordered me back home.

I think I was just waiting for my husband to divorce me - because it was as if I had no power over this; that I could not divorce him. And after all he had been the one to walk out of me, just because I stood my ground. I felt the heartbreak.

During the split I became close to another soldier and things developed into a romance. The soldier died in battle.

Only my husband did not divorce me. The husband returned in my life, now as injured from the war and sent home. Think we tried to start from scratch again only the past had changed us in different ways.

Then came the moment when my husband found a letter the soldier had written me from before that I had saved and we got into a fight. We were screaming at one another and my voice nearly broke down as I felt desperate - trying to tell him that it was because he had left me, that he did not care for me no more. That I would not have done what I did when I did otherwise. The last thing I wanted to do was to hurt him. At the time we were unhappy as it was, having lost a young boy who was only a few years of age. My husband had physical pain and would use alcohol and some type of drug to cope. During the fight porcelain got broken as it hit the floor, but it wasn't thrown. It was a pile of plates and as we fought his body got in touch with them over at a furniture and they fell over.

At some stage during the fight, just before everything erupted my husband asked me questions about the soldier that he demanded yes or no to. He made it clear to me he would not tolerate a lie. Through my tears I could hardly see him. He had one of my arms trapped with a firm grip by his hand. At some point when I said "yes" to a question he forced me to a wall and held his hand - turned into a fist - close to my face as he was "speaking" to me. I think at that stage that the husband got an answer that I had been physically close to the soldier in a way that only a wife should have been with her husband. I suppose I was not myself either because I suddenly grabbed his fist and bite it - real hard - then I tried to escape but he got hold of me and forced me out of the house to the stall where he quickly succeeded with a rope around my wrists so I got trapped to the wall. He then left. I can't put words what it was like to be trapped like that. Think he had told me on our way out there as I fought and screamed and cried and begged all the way, that he snarled something about that a horse bite so I should be with the horses. It was definitely a way to humiliate me, to defeat me, to show me who was the boss. He had a horse whip and I was afraid he was going to use it on my back, he would use it before on a horse that I had tried to protect. At some point he returned. By now he seemed to have calmed down. He rest his head on one of my arms as he spoke to me. He got me free from the rope.

Then I remember seeing bruises on my legs and leaving into the night without waking up the man who was sleeping in our home whom I think was my husband.

I have had a horrid image of a man being hanged outside our ranch, by a tree, in day light, as I came closer with a carriage that another man was driving. I think the man who was hung was the husband but I can't be 100% sure. I felt completely devastated by the sight. (I don't know if it was suicide or if someone else had done it to him. The husband was a bit complicated, I think he had his enemies. Also I was a Mormon and perhaps he was too. From my understanding they were not always accepted. Also I have the feeling the husband could very well have come from a stormy past where he had done something illegal. We lived isolated out on the ranch).

I suppose I would want your opinion if the so called ghost could be the husband? I know it is a crazy question - but please say something? I'm not sure what to make of this myself. What makes me think that the "ghost" and the husband could be one of the same is because of the same smell they both had connected to them. It is only most recent that I started to connect the two.

One loose theory I had from before is that it was perhaps a previous owner that visited his home and so I just let him be and ignored the presence. Also because I am a chicken ;) when it comes to this. Even though the "ghost" can be quite physical and make sounds we have never been pushed. Only without thinking about it one is moving to the side when one feels as he is walking past you - this because it feels like a real person, a man who take his place so to speak when he moves. A lot of times I have thought it was my current husband just because I looked to the side or was focused on something else.

I honestly don't think any of my loved ones on the other side would ever frighten my daughter at night; they were real careful with children in life. My daughter has a lot of times told me that she hates that she is "more sensitive" than her friends. She is an intelligent girl according to teachers. I don't think she would make up the man who is "up-up" by her own free will at least. We have never talked about "the ghost" around her so she could not have picked it up from there. I am angry with the "ghost" for having frighten her this way. Then again one time when the sounds were overwhelming I was desperate at it to stop and called out "Please, make it stop" and immediately it did - at the time it was electric devices acting all funny and I had tried anything else up til then (including unplugging).

I understand if this thread gets removed because it is one of the rules of not writing about ghosts but it would be interesting to know if past life soulmates can be ghosts visiting you in this current life? And if that is the case - what to do about it?

Has anything like this happened to anyone else?

Hello Li La!

I can’t link my « ghost » experiences to my own experience with my past lives memories, but definitely what you are describing, for some part of it, has been a part of me too.

And you would be surprised how common these encounters are. I remember that when I engaged with a psychiatrist in France, when going through the early phase of accepting my memories from a previous life, I also opened up about it to him and he was absolutely not impressed - he said he has many patients telling the same tales and while he can’t explain them, he cannot see any link to mental illness at all.

And I smiled when you mentioned your daughter seeing beings floating. In my family, I was the child who saw many things before the age of 5. Being an adult now, it has greatly reduced in frequency, although I have « seen » physical shapes at least 4 times since I reached the age of 18. In three occasions, I identified them and they seem to be family members from my current lifetime. I should also say that it is not limited to me, as my brother has a visitor too, someone who likes to call his name and play with his door, at night and during the day.

As a child though, my parents told me that I spent a lot of time playing with my « son », and it would seem to link this visitor to a previous lifetime son that I never got to see while alive. From my current experience, I would not be surprised to see that relatives or accointances from a previous incarnation would keep a watchful eye.

In any case, I hope you are not troubled by it as they are friendly presences, and are here, I am sure, to testify of their love and care!

Hi LiLa,

I don't think you are crazy. It has happened to me too. I was visited by the astral energy of a former life friend (I wrote about it on the forum). In the beginning, there were sounds, moving objects and so on.
I was not impressed by the phenomena but I got scared by the determination of his energy to reach out, to contact me.
Well, we finally made contact. He merged with me and I wrote down as quick as I could the words that came through. His first words were: don't be scared, that was not my purpose. There were issues left from a former life between us, which we settled in our own way during this contact in the now.
The weirdest thing is that this person reincarnated and is alive nowadays. So I concluded it must have been an astral shell. When you die, your soul goes to higher places, but your old energy can remain in the lower astral planes and wander around forever.
If your intuition thinks there is a connection to this former life husband, well: confront him. You are the one who is in power now. He might have come to apologize. If not, demand him to leave you in peace.

Hi Li La,

I would say Yes and Yes to your two questions—at least from what I have read. There is actually a story about something of this type in one of Brian Weiss’ books, though I can’t recall which one. If I can remember correctly, it involved a young woman who came to see him because of troubling nightmares dating back to childhood where the figure of an old man in a broad brimmed hat would be in her room staring at her. In her adult life dreams, he was getting closer and closer to her, and she was becoming terrified. She eventually discovered that he had been a husband in a PL, an older man who she had in some way been unfaithful to (I can’t remember the details at this point). Through regression she was able to remember the lifetime and the man. However, I cannot remember how the issue was resolved, though I do recall that she made her peace with him with Dr. Weiss' help, and he moved on. It would be good if you could find the story and read it---I wish I could give you more guidance, but someone else on the board may also be able to remember and supplement my account. BTW—from other stories I have read, the types of things that you report can be some of the ways that a disembodied spirit tries to announce its presence and identify itself—i.e., by sounds/smells that you would (hopefully) recognize.

I have more I would like to say on this, but no time at present.

Cordially,
S&S

Thanks everyone for your replies and kind support :)

I was a bit nervous opening up like I did, and it was lovely that you guys did not think I was crazy . You've given me something to think about. Of all the times when I did pl regression meditations and was asked if I recognized Laura's first husband as someone in my current life I didn't. And I could not place him in Anna's either (died 1970's). I hope he is not trapped in some way, I have heard that some ghosts can be that. I have good and bad experiences of this man. I have been afraid before to confront him because A) I am a cower B) I thought it would make him more powerful, and I have already experienced enough. Being a protective mom I would hate if he would grow stronger/more physical in a negative way in our very home where I want a child to feel safe at all times (and me too...)

Fireflydancing, it is really good to know you have been able to even sort things out with a past-life-ghost. I will try to be as brave as you are and just confront it.

I still don't understand how a ghost can make real sounds of porcelain breaking - and I mean a lot of it - and even sound of glass breaking, real loud, and then - nothing. I have never been able to find anything that has been broken. This was why I thought something was temporarily (hopefully) not working with my brain. I don't hear voices and sounds otherwise that other people don't hear. When I realized my family heard it too - it was kind of a relief, yet it is an enigma to me. One time these sounds went on for almost an hour and I kept walking around like an idiot trying to find the source. If this has happened to someone else I would love to hear it? Only one time I did see it for real - Me and my child was in our small quarter of a hallway upstairs where we had a roof lamp that was made of glass (come to think of it it was not a good idea to have bought that lamp). It did not hang loose in any way. Yet the very second me and my daughter went into a room- and left the hallway-the glass- only the glass of the lamp, the shield so to speak, came crashing down on the floor and smashed into many peaces. We bought a new one and believe it or not the same thing happened.

I will try to get hold of the story you wrote about, Sea & Sky, and see what methods were used. It does sound very interesting.

My daughter said she saw "the ghost" before she could use words, that she was alone in her room and that she cried out for us to come. So I think this is actually one of her first memories : ( . We have even changed her room in hope that it would get better. Also I remember waking up at night and seeing his shadow figure by her cradle. At the time I felt true mother instinct and felt immediately ice cold, felt like killing it, - it became quickly aware of me seeing it and vanished in thin air. I could not sleep for the rest of the night, yet I told myself I had imagined it.

The few experiences/images I had of him as a father was that he was a good one. Maybe as a ghost he has thought he has done a good thing by visiting my daughter's room at night - but then again I still think he should have realized that he has terrified her. Then again perhaps he was not aware that she has seen him all those times. My daughter has explained to me that she just wakes up because she "feels" that he is in the room and that he is "watching me" from a far. She pretends to be asleep. The way she described him (this is years back) fits the description in a lot of ways of Laura's husband... She thinks he looks at her from a far in an intense strict way, almost as if he is angry. One (very) loose theory I have is that perhaps my daughter could be the reincarnation of the boy we had; and that is the reason why the ghost is being drawn to us both?

I was happy to hear from you, Benjamin, that this could be normal and that you too has had similar experiences, and also what the psychiatrist told you. It is a relief that psychiatrist won't think one is crazy for reporting such things.

Thank you all so much again!

Best Wishes

Hi, tried to confront the ghost by just having a polite conversation in one of my rooms. When I asked if we had known each other from before there was a power failure - in that room alone. I did this perhaps foolishly in the evening so it was dark outside and I could not see a thing. I left the room and did not try to contact again.

I've now read all about how ghosts make their presence heard but often it is about loved ones on the other side. I have had that too - and they have never frighten me, like this other ghost does and not my child either that I know off - it is just so off the map that they would show an angry face to my child that well, I would say it is impossible. I get angry with myself for letting the fear take control.

Before I went to bed I asked the ghost that he was welcome to visit me in my dreams, and perhaps it was easier if he had something he wanted to share, information, that I could understand him better.

So now I woke up and already had a dream of him which was really fast, I think. I thought it would take at least a few nights or me repeating it - perhaps to no use. The thought has come to me that perhaps he wants to but he just don't know how. The thing is I don't know if it is my own subconscious who is making this up or if it is actually him trying to make contact. Perhaps with time I get more wiser what this is about.

Best Wishes

You can invite the ghost to move on with their journey .. I did a ceremony to help two ghosts move on ... breaking what ever bond they have to being stuck in limbo.. It is not a pleasant state being a ghost.. I have a memory of being a ghost .. just prior to coming into this life. Getting stuck in the ghostly world due to the trauma leaving the last few lives . It was extremely lonely ,. I was aware of other ghosts in my " neighbourhood / ie ghosts who died close to me . But we could not communicate.. I had a sister in spirit come to me and invite me back to this life . Her love propelled me to take the chance again to return .
