Stigma of Remembering

A few nights ago I had a vivid and clear memory of several lives, of which I am going to write below:

My first dream involved WWII. I was with another "Officer" and we were conducting what felt to be some sort of business transaction. During this encounter, the other "Officer" and I were having a side conversation about the hitler youth or related organization. In german I said to him " We as German Parents have the responsibility to make sure that our children become strong for the reich (HJ or related)" At that point the older gentleman we were conducting business with in cultural gestures, had basically told us that germans can go elsewhere and made an insult towards those of German heritage and of Germany. He later disappeared. Later, in this dream I am talking to a soldier, and this was where I believe I had learned the statement I had said in german.

My second dream, involved a life where I was of mixed race in pre or early victorian life. The city looked very much like the french quarter. Women of darker skin were in very ornate dressings, and awaiting their chaperones. The custom felt strange in this dream. The women would arrive at their suiters door, and if the gas lamp was lit, he was interested and willing to partake in taking them to the local ball. If the light was not lit, the woman was basically turned down.

I lived in New Orleans in this life, and perhaps another one. You are describing the "Octaroon" ladies perfectly. There were balls where rich Creole (French) gentlemen went to acquire beautiful Mulatto companions. Most of them kept mixed race mistresses. I haven't heard of the street lamp custom, but it makes sense. People still use gas lamps there on their houses, and they are very beautiful. There are a few famous ghost stories about the mistresses dying for "love". By the way, this custom of the balls was passed down from mother to daughter, and the women were heavily chaperoned.

Hello BriarRose,

I have never heard of "Octaroon" ladies before! Thank you for the information! I looked into this, and it seems to hit key points. So again thanks!

Confused

I found a possible past life identity of mine. Normally, this may feel like a freeing moment for most. However, I find myself with more questions than answers.

I had dream of what I believed to be the name of my life before this one. I looked it up, and found someone. We look very similar, and they also look like my lifetime before that one as well.

What I am most confused about, is that I may have to admit that I was totally wrong this whole time about what I believed about my last lifetime. A lot of information is different, i.e location and such. Somethings do match, but unfortunately there is not a whole lot of information out there for me to even look up to see if things match. I felt some of my interests now were indicators from then, since I had a great interest in them. I haven't found evidence they were involved with any of that sort.

If things tend to not match up I move on and say, "wasn't me" What has kept me from discarding this one, is how much alike we look. Our ears, eyes, facial structures are similar (minus nose and hair). So, I am very confused on what to think on this one. Any help or input would be great appreciated.

There is a "possible" explanation but it's something we are not supposed to discuss here. I'll send you a PM.

I think if you got a name that'd be a strong indication in itself especially if you have similar physical characteristics and some matching secondary information.

But if you had an interest that doesn't seem to match up, I wouldn't consider that a negative mark. Maybe that's all it was to you was an interest. There's nothing wrong with that at all. Not all latent interests are indications of a past life.

I think in general though you'll know that you're on the right track when then more you discover or try to disprove, the more facts just seem to line up.

Hello Totoro, thank you for your reply! I agree with you, that they may be just interests. Which is why I as confused, because I've had very strong interests, and did lots of research, and a few dreams before that kicked off the interest. I've too considered that they may have just been that dreams.

I've decided to sit on this a bit and see what crops up.

Eidelweiss, Have you tried ancestry.com, or familysearch.org? The latter is free. Can you disclose the name of the person you think you were? I got a name in regression of a person of some historical interest, who I was able to research. As Tortoro says, getting a name may be a strong indicator. Strangely, I picked my "forum name", BriarRose, before I knew that the person in my PL was named "Rose".( The subconscious at work?) It is disconcerting to find out that our fondly-held notions are wrong. I'm grappling with this, myself. Please keep us posted about where your story leads. We are all in this process together, and can profit from each others discoveries.

I can vouch for Ancestry.com - VERY good. You can get a one month free trial with them.

Well, why do you think that the name belongs to you? were you called like that in the dream or did it just pop up? What's the difference between this name you just got and the one you thought used to be yours? the "mistaken identity". Those are things it's good to think about. I would disregard physical appearance for the moment, sometimes our perception varies with our moods and expectations.

Again, how did you get the information you thought before it was real and why are you saying now that things don't match? Did you get the past information from memories and the new information is what pops up online when you look up the name? if so, disregard the new information and stay with the memories.

It seems so far that people get mistaken identities when they try to fill up the gaps. Stay with what you remember, and ONLY with what you remember. I don't know the circumstances in which you remembered that name, but except you were being called like that or you remember signing something, don't assume it's yours. Disregard interests too for the moment. As I always say, interests, as well as physical appearance only strength cases, they don't prove them.

Good luck

My apologies for my lengthy delay in getting back to respond to you all. Life has been absolutely nuts lately!

As an update, I have yet again dreamed of my name. I have dreamed of the high school that I had attended as well as other's names. I have also found some matching information from other dreams, in connection!

Thank you all for your replies, they helped out a lot, and hope that more can come from this!

Please keep us posted when you can, Eidelweiss. We are all interested, and care about how this resolves for you.
