I don't know if this belongs here, and if it doesn't I hope a moderator will kindly move it to where it should go. It's not memories per se but I've been dealing with a lot of past life angst, sorrow, pain and what have you. One life in particular keeps it all coming back, and in many new forms as well. Anyways.
A friend suggested that I should literally hug myself and speak to my inner self, or reach out to him. I'd never done this before and I didn't know what would happen but I decided to give it a go because what could it hurt? I closed my eyes and called out his name, silently and suddenly I was in the place I had died in, in that life. He (my past self) was cowering in a corner, and he was shaking and crying. I myself was sobbing hard, because the sudden flood of pain that I felt was really overwhelming and it was a lot to process.
As suggested by my friend, I reached out to him and he spoke to me in the language I knew in that life time, and in my mind and soul I knew what he was saying, even though it wasn't in English. When I spoke back to him, he understood me as well. I told him that he couldn't have stopped what was going to happen. I told him that it wasn't his fault and that he shouldn't blame himself for it. It sounds so weird because I was telling myself this, my inner self. My past self. I offered my hand to him and he took it and I've never quite felt such a sensation like that before. I felt my past self hug me. It was like nothing I've ever felt before and I cried so hard feeling that embrace.
After we embraced, (and there were a few more embraces after that because I needed to be hugged by myself) I opened the door that led out of the room we were in and it was instantly flooded with white light, and I saw rolling green hills and meadows beyond. I've seen this place only in my dreams. It was raining, but it wasn't cold rain - it was warm rain and it was healing me, healing him.
After this, I was so tired and went to sleep, and had some memories from that life (I think) or it was dreams, I'm not entirely sure. I woke up feeling the embrace and touch of my past life mother, something I've been pining for and missing terribly as of late.
So I don't know if this experience will be for everyone and if will help. It helped in some ways, though I don't think I'm fully healed from it all. That life time is particularly raw still. Anyways, thanks for listening.
