Was I a woman? Hetero but relationships fail

I'm still not sure about reincarnation but the idea starts to make sense to me

I'm male over 40 but unfortunately can't find life partner even if i'm moderately handsome intelligent and with a successful career

I'm guessing the reason is that even while being a man I tend to approach relationships from a female perspective. I expect women to make a step first and show interest and also complement my looks. As you can guess very few do that ;)

While being sexually interested in women I have many female behaviors in relationships, and in life in general, I get hurt easily, sulk and expect apologies (apologies if this sounds sexist)

I know this is not a relationship advice forum so sorry for OT

Or maybe this is some sort of karmic punishment because maybe as a woman in previous life I exploited men to my advantage. I also have minor physical defect which most men would get over with but it seems to be a big deal for me.

Has anyone had similar life experience

Souls have no sex. Sexual orientation is the property of the material body.

Even if some sort of, as you put it, "karmic punishment" were imposed upon you, it would be done by placing your soul into a body with a split sexuality (a feminine physical body with a male mentality or vice-versa).

It's all the question of the physical body. Your past life has nothing to do with it.

And I'm not sure about "karmic punishment". I've often read it does not exist.

Hello, Feeling a Little Lost

It seems to me like you may've been a female in a past life, given everything you explained in the OP.
As for your question, I have the misfortune of having been born in a male body, I'm still attracted to women, but I don't want to be in a romantic relationship as a man, if that makes sense. For instance, men are always the ones pursuing women, making the first move, initiating the initial... whatever to start a romantic/sexual/or intimate relationship. You'll never catch me doing anything of the kind. In fact, I always wanted the woman to approach me, and it's not just in romantic relationships. I have to if at all possible, undertake the "female" role in all that i can.

Souls have no sex. Sexual orientation is the property of the material body.

Even if some sort of, as you put it, "karmic punishment" were imposed upon you, it would be done by placing your soul into a body with a split sexuality (a feminine physical body with a male mentality or vice-versa).

I don't think he asked or even said anything about souls having s... a gender (using the other word for "gender" would not have come out right :p).
But everything else you mentioned about "karmic punishment" makes sense... that it may not have anything to do with that. Also, regarding sexual orientation being a property of the material body as you put it, that's interesting because I imagine being a woman next life and being attracted to other women. That'd be fun to experience... for me... to me.

A lot of these stereotypes are, IMO, just that. I don’t know any women who behave the ways listed above.

Don't feel down on yourself about it but just remember that for much of this world it will never sink in that not all men are cut from the same block nor are they are the same as the rest. Besides the gender swap some souls are not native to this world's ways and do struggle with what wouldn't be issues for others. Just wish there was a healthier balance to this world with greater respect to differences and individual choices but instead we get loads of problems.

Just don't confine yourself to the limits others impose with their in the box thinking especially in matters of thought and personality.

i came back to edit this post and clarify my initial response. this reads like longing and misunderstanding. longing for something more, misunderstanding from thinking you and others have to be a certain way(most likely defined by culture/society). have we the ability to accept ourselves, love and fulfillment is possible. it's your reality, for better or worse.

have i experienced similar? absolutely. everyday is a battle. mine revolves around acceptance and will power.

we think life ought to be a certain way, are these expectations our own ideas?

how liberating it might be, to free ourselves of these expectations. perhaps we ought to weigh our desires and consider if fulfilling them would even satisfy these pangs.

ps,
having longed before... for something i can't easily see...
is it possible that longing is not just for some, "ideal partner" but because it feels like there is something missing in yourself?

thanks for the insight. _^_

Hi Feling_Little_lost !

Well, I think there is someone out there for everyone ( cliche, I know, but I honestly do). You don't have to follow all those rules you just pointed out. Besides I believe boys, men can be shy too and hate that kind of introduction of themselves, always having to take the first move etc. We're all just humans, you know. Afraid to be rejected. I say cockiness can only take you so far in a relationship, the romantic type of relationships demands of both to dare to show vulnerability, be sensitive, be hurt. One sometimes just have to put the tough attitude on a shell. I think the connection matters more than anything, to be close, to be equals, to have respect for one another. I would say just be you and you will most likely find someone who loves you for you :)

I find this topic interesting, and sad too in a way... perhaps looking at it from my own perspective, that is.

I've always been told that I am soft, "feminine" in my ways, ( I am female ) that is until I get provoked, angry, arguing, fighting. Then I apparently change. Was always like this according to my family, from the get go. They were amused because people in general thought they could boss me around and were then in for a surprise. I am still this way as an adult. My husband of now many years said it was a surprise to him first time it happened and he says he always feels as if he is fighting "with a man" when we fight. On one hand I think society has failed to acknowledge the "female power" that I think each and everyone of females have, but in another I do understand that in this department I kinda stick out, without intent. Given any situation that makes a group of females to get teary eyed, I get mad, I get like one of the males from just looking at one of them. I can't change that. It's instinct. It's who I am.

Having past life memories where I in one way or the other find myself being some short little female in collision with a physically stronger built man is not always the nicest memories to have, you know. It is what it is.

This never made me "hate men", though. In some ways I get along better with men than females. In my past life I use to have great friends that were men and there was nothing romantically going on, but we always had to like clarify this to others. For me to fall in love was very rare, so I did not feel this as an option that would easily come my way.

I've seen a medium that used tarot cards recently. She began to talk about energies. Female and male energy. She claimed to have seen things from my past life/lives, and then she hit a wall, with me. This too because during meditation I have met this wall. It is a deep feeling of being confused, hurting and not feeling like I am enough as opposed to my past life's man's sexual orientation (God, long sentence, that one). In short, I think he was into men too. Today we got terms for that, bisexual or homosexual. There were vibes that others picked up from him (energy, again), that I clearly didn't, or maybe I did not wish to see it? I don't know.

Anyways, what the medium said to me is that this deep wound my spirit/soul has no need to be there; as I was "everything he wanted and more". That it wasn't that he lacked, missed something when being with me, that "with you he had it all". I don't know if I can trust that, though, at least past life me had an issue with it, that was so difficult for me that I could not find the words for it, I think. Both men in these 2 past lives were men that were very good to me, and even if jealousy was not a big thing in the relationship, I got that it was very important to them that past-life-me was faithful, and they did not want to risk me suspecting they were unfaithful either, that it wasn't something they would do to me, to us.

The way the medium explained it to me is that there are parts of me, my spirit, that comes off as not only female energy, although that is the base with me, but male energy too.

Anyways, I say live and let live :)

Hi Lost,

Welcome to the board. You have already received a lot of good advice. At this point, I'm mainly interested in just providing some background.

First, there is a disagreement at the board and elsewhere as to whether the soul/spirit is gendered. Even if gendered, this doesn't mean that a male gendered soul could not incarnate as a female or vice-versa.

Second, according to Ian Stevenson, a noted reincarnation researcher, there tend to be gender issues in a lifetime following a life as the opposite sex. This does not necessarily prove or disprove soul/spirit gender.

Third, the difficulties noted above are one of the things that seem to breach the "memory barrier" in terms of past life memories. Traumatic memories and issues also tend to be a cause for breaching the memory barrier. Either way, there is an element of discord that seems to be present in these cases related to a past lifetime. BTW--some people just seem to be "rememberers" and have active past life (PL) memory without either of these factors necessarily being present (though they may be part of the mix as well).

Cordially,
S&S

PS--for what it is worth, it is difficult to determine from what you have said whether this is a cross-gender lifetime for you or not. That is a possibility IMO, but definitely not a certainty. You might want to try a regression to find out more.

Lost, I know exactly what you're talking about. I was a woman in my past life and I'm now starting to wonder if part of what's kept me "behind" in this life is sending out girl or woman signals when I should be sending out male ones. I've noticed I run into trouble with women because I treat them like "girlfriends" and it hasn't dawned on me yet that some women are phony and others are seeing the guy when I'm subconsciously being a "girl" and loads of other things. I also have the added problem of my mother, being my past live's mother as well and she raised me in the same mother daughter relationship we used to have and that affected me a lot too. So I know 100% where you're coming from.

I've always maintained that when we talk about gender, we're really talking about a point on personality spectrum. Male on one side, female on the other and for nearly everyone, it's all a big gray area where their point falls somewhere in between. And we may have many "points" or aspects within our own personalities that land in different places too. It's not something anyone definitely point to and say I'm one or the other.

Physical sex is different, but it also does go along with personality, but not 100%. Men and women can both love animals and kids for instance, but that also doesn't mean they want to change physical sex either. I'm really not sure what makes us feel that way, but some people just are happier with one physical sex over the other. I prefer to be female and I died rather young in my past life and I think i should have been a female again, to recover from that past life. I'm not and I've often wondered if it's what's to blame behind some of my problems in this life.

You said something that stood out to me, about waiting for an apology. If I can, let me give you a tip from my own life and what I've been through. Don't look to your past life and some expected lady like behavior as what's wrong in this one. It does play a part, but look at your childhood in this life and how you were raised. The ideal goal for everyone should be to have a sense of self, autonomy, well developed boundaries and the ability to speak up for ones self. This is regardless of male or female.

My issue was because of the mother daughter relationship I was having with my mom in this life, I was complicit and my mom took advantage of that. We had some turmoil in our lives and it's true of parents, caregivers and teachers alike, that they will tend to either dominate or give the most attention to the person that is the easiest to work with.

As I said, being female, I was / am naturally complicit and my mom was an overbearing micro manager. It wasn't my fault, but I bore the brunt of it because of course, I worked hard to please her.

So look to your own life and childhood now. Who taught you to wait for an apology? Who taught you to put other's needs before you own?

Knowing about your past life can help you unravel how you came into this one with baggage. But you still need to look at your life now, because that baggage is what you used to learn how to deal with things that have happened to you in this life now.

Welcome to the forum! i wish you the best.

Thank you all for your supportive comments and most of all for sharing personal experiences. It's always good to know we're not the only ones struggling with a problem. Helps to feel less like a misfit.

I think it's little bit what people claiming to be born into the wrong sex go through. Except my sexual desire is "standard" (for a male) but the rest of the mind is not.

I suspect my issues go deeper than just relationships. Read that some "souls" are fresh to this world and puzzled, and maybe there's also animal to human reincarnation. I have deep love for most animals (mammals) and feel better with animals, people leave me most often perplexed. Most activities or achievements have a bitter taste of "what meaning does it have?" "what's the point?" etc. Not sure if it's a sign of spiritual immaturity or maturity.

Someone commented that sexuality is property of the body not the soul. If so, why does the soul choose a particular sex ?

Some of you also suggested past life regression (therapy?). I guess for that to work it would take a true medium, not just hypnosis (i'm probably immune to hypnosis). And guessing that true mediums are not so easy to come by as there's money involved and many fakes out there ? And to help it, some form of magic ? Can even such "spiritual misadaptation" be helped ? Ayahuasca?

Hi FLL,

IMO, you don't sound like an immature soul/spirit. I don't claim to be an expert, but from reading Newton and some others, it appears that immature souls/spirits have the kinds of problems you might expect: lack of impulse control and generally out-of-control drives/inclinations leading to unwise friendships, sexual relationships, over-indulgence, addictions, relationship catastrophes, criminal issues, violence, etc. You don't sound anything like this. If anything, you sound like you may be a bit too circumspect (if that is possible). You also sound like a nice guy, and I definitely don't see anything wrong with getting along better with animals than with most people. I also don't see any problem with the fact that most of this world's "activities or achievements" seem a bit hollow to you. From what I can tell, that may be a positive sign in terms of "maturity". However, you do sound a bit lonely, so you may need to keep working for some improvement in your "human" relationships. Maybe that is what you are here (in this world now) to do.

Cordially,

I was just gonna say why do some people like burger king better than McDonald's.. I know that's reductionist but it works for me. Lol.

psychedelics have been useful for some. distracting for many. have you tried praying? how about meditation?
reading your thoughts, it seems like you've got a handle on your emotions- an intuition about it all. have you tried asking yourself what's really going on? stillness is a drug-free, cost-free practice. emphasize the practice. my suggestion is to hear yourself and practice placing trust in your intuition. i think you'll be surprised. your adventure is far from over, just my opinion.

writing here helps.
and
best of luck to you. :)

Feeling a little lost,

As a gay man in this lifetime I can understand to some extent what you are trying to say. I have many male and female friends some gay some straight. My straight male friends are totally fine with having me as a friend as they are security with their own sexual orientation and are also in touch with their female side in this life yet can still be a man. As soul we are not male or female. Soul in its pure state is for lack of a better word gender neutral. The only time we experience gender is when soul incarnates into the physical plane where it experiences duality. As everything here has its opposite. black, white, rich, poor, negative, positive, male, female, ect.. So we have all been the opposite sex in our long soul journey on this earth plane. As soul evolves it comes to a state within itself where the polarity within consciousness the yin and yang aspect of ourselves becomes balanced. In my opinion this is when we are reaching a point where we are getting ready to cycle off the physical plane all together as we have experienced enough life lessons here where we can be in touch with both sides of our being.

You sound like your a sensitive man that is in touch with his female side from within that wants to treat women with respect and awareness. This is not a bad thing. You can still be a man and yet be kind, gentle, caring, and show emotions when the time calls for it. Being a man myself I have had to learn to be tuff and ruff. I love being a man, and can be aggressive, courageous, brave, forthright, a risk taker when the circumstances call for it ect.. My looks are just the opposite however of what I am inside as I am a bodybuilder, have tattoos, crew cut, handlebar mustached and have a biker look to me. Yet in the same turn I can be kind, sensitive, caring, and cry when someone I love is suffering or have emotional awareness of others. This is not a sign of weakness but of inner strengthen to embrace all that I truly feel inside as I am expressing my own inner truth. And it takes courage to love another human being because it means risk and being vulnerable. However without risk there is no gain, no inner growth of the inner self and all the richness love has to give and experience thru another. Because in the end it does not matter who we love, what matters is that we love. So to answer your question yes you have been female in other lifetimes. Perhaps you did exploited men in past lives I can not say for sure. Many women did have to do that back then in order to survive as women did not have many rights during those times. However karma is not a punishment's or rewards system but a tool for the soul to learn to master its own destiny thru trail and error. However now you are male. So the lessons here really is about balance of both yin and yang within yourself. Never be afraid to speak your own inner truth. Because if you can't be truthful to yourself you can't been truthful to others in life.

I know in time you will find the right women for you. Just give it time and know that when you do not only will you find a life partner that will love you for who you really are as you will do with them as well, but also be a friend with you along life's journey.

Peace and love to you my friend...

P.
